NoHall, I'm all confused. We just watched Ocean's 13 tonight, and what parts did you think were funny? I think I missed all the jokes.![]()
Unless you're talking about the movie RO was talking about, Snatch? Now that's an incredible film (and soundtrack too).
I love:
...plot twists and silliness and the details.
...that Brad Pitt wears the pants of his "disguises" too short, and that he and Clooney don't mind dressing up like complete dorks with nasty mustaches.
...all the dialogue where they finish each other's sentences and we never really know what they're talking about.
...that they had a random scene about getting weepy over Oprah.
...that Matt Damon acts like a complete idiot who wants to wear an awful nose and seduce a "cougar."
...that we never really figured out why Saul brought a fake dog to the hotel. (If there was a reason, I don't want to know.)
...that Al Pacino looked like he sprayed self-tanner in his hair.
...how the plot sabotages itself for no good reason, such as the strike at the factory in Mexico.
...the wacky captions and old-school soundtrack that fits between a pre-disco lounge and Elvis and Sinatra.
To me, it's all just funn.
Maybe that's just me.
But like I've said somewhere before, the secret to getting your money's worth out of a movie like that is to go with someone young--high school or college-aged. I don't like to act all cool with them, so I laugh more. Then they laugh, too (I'm not sure if they laugh at me or at the movie) and we all have a great time. I've genuinely enjoyed some really dumb movies that way.
p.s. Haven't seen "Snatch" yet. Someday.
