Part 5- Thursday
We woke up to pretty big weather change. I think it got cool all across the country. It was snowing in Ohio so 60's wasn't bad in Sowal but it was a little chilly for the beach. Beachmom and I made plans for our kids to meet in the afternoon. She was going to take my kids while Mr OL and I spent some time alone together. The morning was cool so we made a plan. Looking back...should have went to the beach anyway but we decided to head into Destin. I wanted to take the kids to the harbour and have a fresh seafood lunch...Dewie Destins came to mind if we could find it.
So we started out. We passed the sign that said Eden State Gardens and decided to stop in. We didn't have time to take the tour but did take a good look around and got some of my best pictures of the trip. It was a beautiful sunny day but just cool.
We hit the road again and stopped at the outlet mall...jeesh, just crowds of people...everyone and their sister were there. I had to get a baby gift since we were seeing a new neice as soon as we got home for Easter. We did that as quickly as possible and then started towards Destin. Traffic was really backed up miles and miles, we made a turn off into Miramar Beach. Man, I thought I'd entered the twilight zone...soooo different with these little motorized trikes on the roads and scooters, high rises and chairs and umbrellas like a foot apart..it was just so different. We never found a place to eat, ended up running late to see Beachmom but needed to feed the kids before we dropped them off so we stopped at subway then drove to Beachmom's house near Eastern Lake. We got there and met the kids and Beachmom's sister who was visiting along with her neice. Beachmom's sis was a doll just like her. Our kids really got along well. Beachmom gave us a tour of their house ( gorgeous) and the best part was I got to see her art in person! and her studio on the top floor of the house with an amazing view of the gulf!!! She is so talented, it just floors me.
Mr OL and I took off for a couple hours. We still hadn't eaten lunch so that's what we were going to do. It was either Wild Olives or Shades at the Loop and we ended up at Shades. We parked our van right out front and started walking in. A couple was walking out and I noticed a Gators sweatshirt and orange crocs right away but didn't put two and two together...can you guess who it was?
Mr OL had an OSU shirt on and he thought the woman was making a wisecrack about OSU but really she said something about sowal...she had seen our sowal sticker on the van and the Ohio plates. I turned around right away and knew it was Beachrunner. I gave her a big hug. It was so nice to meet her and big D. She recommended the wings and did not steer me wrong....mmm, they were good. We had a good lunch, stopped at a few shops and headed back to get the kiddos. We got there and I don't think they really wanted to leave. They loved their new friends.
We got back to the condo and I took a walk down to the beach...it was so beautiful. I ran back up and made everyone put their warm clothes and jackets on and come down. The water had cleared and was even more calm it was like WOW.I'll let my pictures tell the rest. I'm also adding a picture of our girls lunch from the day before. ;-)
One more day left in paradise...
