I just got home, so I've missed a lot. I TIVO'd all the before stuff, so I can see the dresses, etc. Evidently, there's little left to the imagination??

If you've got 'em, smush and push 'em.

I don't think gray and silver gowns look half as good on the big screen as they must do in person. And that certainly seems to be the choice color for this year's awards.

Did anyone see The Curious Case of Benjamin Button? It's wracking up rewards and the show's not even over. I read the book and found the obsession with the girl rather creepy and unsettling. The movie must have softened the effect and made it into something more romantic?

I loved the movie Benjamin Button, and I just read the short story last night. They were completely different. The book brought him into the world as a crotchety old man; the movie brought him as an ancient, helpless baby. The movie was much softer and sweeter--I got the feeling that Fitzgerald wrote the story as some sort of satire because of the edge he gave it, but I haven't decided what he was targeting.

You should see the movie, Mermy. I really liked it, although I can't really say why. Something about it was just touching.

Since most of my movie attendance is based upon the animated G-rated variety, I haven't seen any of these movies. (I can tell you that Wall-E and Madagascar 2 are awesome.)

But I would like to say that Meryl Streep and her daughter looked beautiful-classy, understated, simple. They stood out among the over the top fashion.

Madagascar 2 and Paul Blart Mall Cop rocked. Guess they didn't get nominated. :dunno:

some of you were very close on your picks! I had not a clue since I too have only seen WAL-e, Nim's Island and Madagascar. plus Australia (loved it), Tropic Thunder, Mama Mia and a few others.

but, I did watch and loved the whole show. all the winners were outstanding. I enjoyed Sean Penn's acceptance words - just great!

most of all I LOVED HUGH JACKMAN!!!!! Mr. Australia. I feel like I didn't miss a thing since I did see that movie. nominated or not - who cares. Hugh was in it. and he was great.

jdarg - I totally agree with you - meryl streep is always number one classy mama in my book no matter what she is wearing!!!!

I agree. I kept thinking the same thing every time I caught a glimpses of M. S. in her beautiful off the shoulder dress. I do believe she was my favorite.
