This was the third least watched Oscar in history. The Hollywoods just cannot figure out why the ratings are slipping.

Why do you think the ratings have slipped over the years?

I don't watch anymore because I am stuck watching 4 hours of cheesy mutual admiration society crap, cut off speeches, and canned music just so I can fall asleep before they get to the good stuff, which doesn't happen until midnight here in the eastern time zone...

I agree. Chris Rock hosted the show a few years ago and I thought, finally they are trying to get with the times. So Rock makes some jokes at the expense of some actors like Jude Law and later, the reining Hollywood idiot Sean Penn feels a need to defend Law as "one of our finest actors". If you cannot laugh at yourself, nobody else can either. My guess is that the biggest single reason is the political comments. I don't know anyone who really cares what Sean Penn or any other actor thinks about politics. You are going to offend half the country no matter what direction you go. And they are so full of themselves. "We convene here annually to share praise and mutual respect and admiration for the celebration of our craft....". GMAB. You stand in front of a camera for a few months and get paid $20 to $30 million for your efforts. There are a few actors who elevate acting to an art form but not many IMHO.

But I would like to say that Meryl Streep and her daughter looked beautiful-classy, understated, simple.They stood out among the over the top fashion.

I'm assuming this is a reference to Sarah Jessica Parker. :funn:Sorry, I realize I'm a little late, but I'm still traumatized by that dress.
