Right here!
This is so overblown, she's the V.P. people, not the president. McCain has all the foriegn policy experience they need and then some. Also McCain's health is great, and Presidents get great medical care, nothing will happen to him in office.

Tell that to JFK, old Abe, James Garfield, and William McKinley. And a few of near misses with FDR, Gerry Ford, Harry Truman and Ronald Reagan. Remember Arthur Bremer stalking Nixon.....Artie boy had to content himself by shooting Geo Wallace !!! I am sure everyday of the week some sicko is planning to assassinate the president .

This is why Obama should have picked Hillary. No one would dare put a bullet in him.

Chickpea, your posts reminded me of one of my favorite Mark Twain quotes:

Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime.

And no, I am by no means well-traveled, but I do consider myself fairly well-read. And though that is a distant second, I believe it's helped to open my mind to other viewpoints.

Sarah Pallin only applied and got a passport in 2007!! She had to go to Kuwait as a govenor representing the Guard.

It always bothered me alot about G.W Bush that given his EXTREMELY privileged background and opportunities that he had traveled so little in his life (with his father as head of CIA, VP and President) - that lack of curiosity and interest in the rest of the world was a lareg contributor (IMHO) to his arrogrance and dismissal of others opinions.

Chickpea, OMG I had not heard this. There is so much we don't know about Palin.. I agree the lack of curiosity and no travel is a real handicap to understanding the people of the world. No curiosity is, IMO, GBush's biggest handicap.

I remember reading last year that only 20% of the Americqn public has a passport. I was astonished...I am still astonished.:yikes: I think it is especially important in this global economy. Oddly enough, members of our military probably have a better grasp on how to interact with people from other countries...they've been deployed so many times they could qualify for dual citizenship!

Alaska is a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic state. The military and some international businesses treat it as a "foreign" assignment for their workers. When the cold war was winding down, Alaska was one of the early states to open its doors to citizens from Russia. Vietnam also was early into Alaska. Alaska has a large Korean population, among others.
