Less than an hour after Sarah Palin was announced as John McCain?s V.P., we began hearing the phrase, ?Troopergate.? The media went wild with the news that McCain?s V.P. was currently under an investigation for abuse of power. Unfortunately the media left out some important information?the facts.
Finally, the details of this mess have come out and the news paint an entirely different picture of the story. Up until today, all most of us knew was that Palin was being investigated for getting her brother-in-law fired. The Obama-holics in the media called her out for being corrupt and left (no pun intended) it at that. Palin and McCain are now fighting back.
Palin and her team released legal documents on the case. Several conservative bloggers and reputable reporters did some digging and found out some very interesting details about the case. Did Sarah Palin use her influence to try and get her ex-brother-in-law fired? I sure hope so.
The trooper in question who was married to Palin?s sister is named Michael Wooten. Among the many revelations of this case is that Wooten told people that his father-in-law would eat a f?ing lead bullet? if he helped his daughter get an attorney for their divorce. Yes, a state trooper threatened the life of the father of the state?s governor.
The death threat is just the icing on the cake. Another interesting fact is that Wooten tasered his stepson. Again, the nephew or family member of the governor was seriously harmed by this man. This isn?t just hearsay. The union investigating Wooten suspended him for the threat and the tasering of his stepson.
Wooten was disciplined several times since joining the force beyond the complaints attributed to Palin. Wooten was given several letters of discipline from his superiors.
Lisa Demer of the Anchorage Daily News reports that those letters included: a reprimand in January 2004 for negligent damage to a state vehicle; a January 2005 instruction after being accused of speeding, unsafe lane changes, following too closely and not using turn signals in his state vehicle; a June 2005 instruction regarding personal cell phone calls; an October 2005 suspension from work after getting a speeding ticket; and a November 2005 memo ?to clarify duty hours, tardiness and personal business during duty time.?
The entire investigation actually began after Palin?s father alerted the state troopers of a domestic violence protective order that his daughter had obtained against Wooten on April 11, 2005. A neighbor also called the state troopers the same day with concerns and complaints about trooper Wooten.
The bottom line here is that all signs point to Wooten as being a bad guy. The liberal media has been in a frenzy of attacking Sarah Palin. While I do agree that she deserves to be scrutinized, none of the candidates from McCain to Obama have received this kind of scrutiny. It is one thing to scrutinize, but it is another to write your own story regardless of the facts.
I hope Sarah Palin did recommend that her brother-in-law be fired. Imagine if she knew all of this and didn?t recommend that he be fired? The hypocrisy in the reporting of this story is downright disgusting. Here you have an alleged crooked cop getting an outpouring of sympathy from the liberal media. The media should be ashamed of themselves.
