This exact thought goes thru my head every spring when I see those Spring Break from Aruba (or wherever) Shows on MTV.
What the hey?? Talk about setting your kids up for some false expectations.
What are they going to do when they graduate and find that once Mommy and Daddy aren't footing the bill anymore life can be a bit tougher?
Oh yeah............. -they go back for a graduate degree.
Aruba is basically American owned now. They split from the Netherlands Antilles in the mid 80's, still under Dutch rule, but were able to allow many more American businesses in & cater to college students, families, etc. that want the "cheesiness" but in a cool location like Aruba, & it's not much more expensive than PCB, honestly.
Up until "rediscovering" SoWal with Mr. OM, Curacao (island next door to Aruba) has my favourite beached in the world. But, now I don't have to fly on a dubious plane in the middle of the night (sometimes) to get to my favourite spots in the world.
Let the spring breakers go... although PCB would have a great deal of money suddenly taken from them because the massive amounts they rake in during such a short period of time is mind-blowing.
