Here's the words of one of OUR deputies that was on site that night!
Thank you for telling it like it is. Maybe our 5 BCC members will get something out of your first hand account.
Thank You for your service and for helping Bay County / PCB!

It was a busy weekend for law enforcement in Bay County. The shooting on Saturday that wounded seven only added to an already hectic time. It got to a point that law enforcement in Bay County requested the assistance of other agencies around the Panhandle, including the Walton County Sheriff's Office.
Deputy Craig Sherrouse has spent three years with Walton County Sheriff's office and nearly six years wearing a badge.
"I've never ever seen anything like it," said Deputy Sherrouse. "People everywhere."
He volunteered to assist Bay County and Panama City Beach on Saturday night.
"I knew they were going to need all the help they could get," said Sherrouse. "We're all brothers and sisters in green, and we're going to help our surrounding agencies when they call. We're going to come running."
He spent ten hours on patrol stationed on Thomas Drive, watching and observing something unlike anything he's ever seen.
"There was lots of drugs, lots of guns seized," said Sherrouse. "I think the total number of guns Saturday was 20 guns. And in my short career of six years, I've never heard of anywhere seizing 20 guns. That's basically a gun every 30 minutes."
He wasn't even sure he would make it home.
"I knew it could be the last time leaving the house and maybe not coming back," said Sherrouse. "Over the years it's increasingly got worse, and we all knew it was going to come to a point like this. We didn't know it was going to come as soon as it did."
He said it's an area that is no longer family oriented but can be by taking some serious steps.
"My personal perspective of it, there's going to have to be some new ordinances in place, or some current ordinances changes," said Sherrouse. "More deputies and more city officers brought in than normal."
