depends on the date
That photos reminds me of our last day down there last week.

Calm water.....sand bar poking through.....pools for the kids wade and play in.

Truly peaceful and beautiful.

I miss it already

I observed something during my week down there a couple months ago. A large group of people were playing around on the beach all day and when a shower came through, they all ran and crammed themselves under a tent so they WOULDN'T GET WET.

They spend the day swimming in salt water and rolling in the sand, but when nice, cool fresh water falls from the sky, they run and get under the tent. :rotfl:

I just sat there in the rain and ate boiled peanuts.
You were one of the lucky few who have observed ritualistic behavior of "the tent people". Later, they most likely drove 15-20 miles to either Destin or PC so they could vacuum out the sandy SUV/minivan and eat at a McDonalds.

How about this from yesterday? Calm water rescue of two men fishing in a kayak who went out far enough that I could not see them until the Sheriff's Office hauled them in.

I am constantly amazed by the number of people who apparently feel they're immune to the forces of nature...

Two men fishing in one kayak? Sounds like a good way to get a hook in the head.
