After a two year absence, we are finally returning to SoWal. We have friends who will be staying on Front Beach Road in Ramsgate Harbour - mutual friend owns a condo there. My husband and I are splurging and staying for one time only in Seaside, children and grandchildren coming along too...Anyway...is the pier on Front Beach Road still there? Our friends are serious fishermen/people are staying there for that reason. About 6.4 miles east of condo - or at least it was. Other piers? Thanks. Two weeks and counting.

I believe the only pier in PCB has not yet even been completely demolished, much less rebuilt :sosad: Unless someone knows about one that I don't, there''s no working pier on the gulf in PCB.

We were down last week and there are no piers now in PC Beach. We have always gone on the Dan Russell Pier every time we have been down. However, they have driven a few pilings for the rebuilding of the Dan Russell Pier which is the city pier. They were working on it all week while we were there other than the days it stormed. I believe they have been working on it for 3 to 4 weeks. Haven't gotten much done though. It's right across from the Pier Park entrance on Front Beach Rd.

yep, that PCB pier was completely removed last month, and they are moving right along. The replacement pier is not scheduled to be completed until Spring 09.

You can do plenty of catching fish from the shore and don't need a pier to catch fish.

This is interesting. I have renters interested in hearing about fishing charters out of PCB. Any idea if those are still available now? I guess she can always just call the number of the guy RO told me about last year, but any more info would be great! I also have a name of a Grayton Beach person to give her.

The closest pier is going to be the very short pier at St. Andrews State park on the far eastern end of PCB.

Fishing charters are still available and they are a little on the desperado side. There are private boats and there are the public boats. The biggest concentration is right around Capt. Anderson's and the big boat (tourist trap don't eat there).

Thanks

Thanks for the info. I don't know whether to tell them before they go or let them find out. But that's not the only reason why they're going. But our friend does have a fishing problem.

If all else fails, remember that anyone who is NOT a Florida resident has to have a fishing permit. Unless you are on a liscensed fishing boat.
