Pleased to announce that I have obtained permission to use the copyrighted FL DEP Beach Flag Warning Logo on my T-shirts, etc. I was told by the state attorneys that no one had asked permission before.

So if I wear the free t-shirt I got years ago from a local realtor w/ the warning flags on it and walk on the beach in Blue Mountain, which will I get arrested for first? :dunno:

It's a copyrighted image that belongs to the state of Florida. Only government entities are entitled to use it unless granted permission. I guess you could check out copyright law. Photographers should know all about this, it's their livelihood.

Are you referring to yourself as photographer, or someone else?

:dunno: What does that mean? Inside joke??? :dunno:I'm lost here....or maybe it went right over my head!!!

I was thinking she might be giving us, or someone else, a hard time for using the beach flags graphic, which was supplied by the TDC and other governmental entities, along with other educational stuff like "remove it or lose it", "leave only footprints", "keep off the dunes", rip currents etc. Stuff developed by government to help educate the public about safety and conservation. I guess now there is profit in it.

Well, if the shoe fits... actually, I was only stating that I had received permission; why you are upset is beyond me. When I emailed the TDC, they told me the logo was property of the State, and I would need their permission, as in any copyrighted image. Yes, it's developed by the government, for the government to use. I suppose there is profit in it, according to your Cafepress site, considerable. But then, is there anything in SoWal that isn't?

You have promoted several products and services on this site for free (and even yourself in an attempt to acquire votes for political office), and now you try to sell yet another product here for free and are rude about it - poor manners in my opinion.

You are likely mistaken if you think you have an exclusive right to use an educational graphic freely distributed by a governmental entity. I actually had forgotten we used it on a shirt because we have never profited and never intended to. We give a lot of money, effort, and time toward public safety and education, and community service. Will you agree to donate your profits to increase public safety, or otherwise benefit the public in some way? If so I will allow you to post the link to your product featuring artwork paid for by taxpayers. If not, you are free to start your own website to promote your endeavors.
