Looking at another thread that mentioned PC and sometimes being a little put off by the very words, I went in search of some definition or some meaning. I found this article very interesting. It's a bit old and I have to admit, i was surprised that the idea of political correctness has been around so long. If this has been discussed before, I apologize in advance for bringing it around again. Thoughts? Do you consider yourself politically correct?

Political Correctness: The Scourge of Our Times

Thank you, SSB!

Dates back to 1923, here is an excerpt:

The problem? Why wasn't communism spreading?
Their answer? Because Western Civilization was in its way.

What was the problem with Western Civilization? Its belief in the individual, that an individual could develop valid ideas. At the root of communism was the theory that all valid ideas come from the effect of the social group of the masses. The individual is nothing. And they believed that the only way for communism to advance was to help (or force, if necessary) Western Civilization to destroy itself. How to do that? Undermine its foundations by chipping away at the rights of those annoying individuals.

This makes me cheer Little Leaguers on even more!!!! Individually, as well as the amazing teamwork they exude so naturally!

Thanks for posting this!

Bob, look, I enjoy your posts. At least the ones I understand and I am not your basic idiot.

Why don't you explain exactly what you meant with your post that you edited? Perhaps if I know where your thought process is, I can comment. Otherwise, I am over your idle assumptions and innuendos, many of which you have no idea what you are talking about.

Right here!
Bob, like a lot of progressive liberals, is feeling a little frustrated right now. You best just give him a wide berth.

Lynnie, if you manage to find out what his thought processes are, please let me know and if it isn't posted, PM me. I have been trying to figure it out for some time now and I'm at a complete loss.
And even though he may come back and say that is because I am stupid, unintelligent and uniformed, I know that is not true because my wife tells me it isn't so.

Andy, Miss Betty is very intelligent as well! What she says about you is absolutely true!

And, Idlewind, thank you for capturing that little bit of ugliness. I never would have noticed otherwise.

I found it fascinating that PC has been injected into our society ever so subtly over decades that it's almost as if no one noticed. But somewhere back in the 90's is when i began hearing it, maybe even the 80's. So, Let's get bob in his racist mode here. when you are using terms of race, do you say: white or European, Black or African American, Mexican or Latino, Chinese or Asian, Indian or Native American?
Retarded or challenged, cripple or handicapped? I mean let's face it, these are all terms we grew up with (at least i did) and now it's not, acceptable if you will, to say these words anymore? :dunno:
Sometimes I just want to be real. I don't want to hurt feelings... I'm a nice person, but why can't i be a nice person who's not politically correct? And what effect does PC really have on POLITICS. Why is it called POLITICALLY CORRECT? Dont you wish sometimes our leaders would just say what they really want to say instead of dancing around every issue afraid of hurting the feelings of a potential voter or another country? Let me have it.
