Politicians are all a bunch of money grubbing cretins who could care less about their values and more about making themselves rich and powerful. Who agrees?

I don't agree that all politicians are as you depict, anymore than all conservatives and liberal are wingnuts and the far extreme of their ideology. I have known plenty of politicans who were not interested in becoming rich and powerful. They ran because they felt they could contribute to the betterment of their city, county or nation. Further, it takes a special kind of person to run for any office in this land. I doubt that you would wish to suffer the verbal abuse and lies flung at you by your opposition. Politics can be a very dirty business but ours is still the best I have seen in my travels around the globe. Be damned thankful you live in America!
Fair enough Andy. I did paint with a broad brush. I've been burned by believing in politicians that turned into something else once elected.
From my perspective, the more local a politician is, the more chance they are in it for good reasons. I can't fathom why anyone would want to be President. It certainly wears a person out.

You are absolutely right about "the more local a politician is, the more chance they are in it for good reasons". I couldn't agree more and federal level politicians, in many cases, leave me cold.
