The reason why you felt secure, confident, and glad that George W. Bush was elected President on September 11, 2001, was because our President showed up and led that day, and the few days that followed. /quote]
Can we please stop pretending this President did something heroic, went above and beyond, stood tall, did what no other could do, or any other BS
way people have described his actions that day? This man is not and never has been a leader for this country. He sat there with a deer in the headlights look for seven plus minutes after supposedly being told of the attack and had no idea what to do. That video is probably the single most revealing evidence of this man's character. At 8:48 am on 9-11 the first pictures of the burning WTC were being broadcast. Long before that the FAA, NORAD, the National Military Command Center, the Pentagon, the White House, the Secret Service, and Canada?s Strategic Command all knew that three commercial airplanes had been hijacked.
So why did the great "Decider", at 9:03 a.m.?fifteen minutes after it was clear the United States was under terrorist attack?sit down with a classroom of second-graders and begin a 20-minute pre-planned photo op? We will never get a true answer to this question.
His subsequent speeches were not anymore uplifting or motivating than anything you, me, or any other citizen could read and deliver. It was the people of this country that came together that day to rally around our President hoping for true leadership. George W. Bush had the entire country on his side, it was his moment in history to become one the greatest leaders of all time and he totally blew it.
