My favorites are Rami (he won the challenge), Kevin (the thick-bearded guy), Chris (leopard print lover) and Victorya (really pretty Korean).

I thought Elisa should've been auf'd. She's a weird one. I can't wait until next week!

Personality wise (after only 1 episode)
I like the jolly big boy costume designer &
intensely dislike that snippy little kid with the cattywampus hairdo who is so overtaken with himself!

Overall, this group seems to have far more experience & bench talent
than previous season groups.

I just love Tim Gunn!

This is the first time I have watched. It was great! The flower dress was gorgeous, the big guy's dress was beautiful -loved the back and neckline and I wished I still had the body to wear that adoreable babydoll dress. I just wanted to touch the material! Don't know how the whole show works but it looks like funn!
btw - the dress with the dragontail- wt???

Looks like a good season to come. I think there will be some more good quotes to come out --like tonight Heidi said the dragontail dress "looked like she - (the model) - was pooing behind it" (I think that's what I understood her to say!!)

The dress with all the draping was gorgeous and I agree that this bunch shows a lot of talent already. Also much more snipping right from the beginning.

Cattywampus= best word ever Dune AHH!

I feel like each season's group of designers gets progressively chosen more for their "character" potential. Their experience and resumes keep getting more impressive, but I don't feel like the clothes or creativity levels get more impressive.

I like the show because of the creative aspect, not their overly hyped dramas and hope they don't ruin it by making it just another "reality" show.

I agree on all counts. I think I would have liked Simone. I do agree tho that the jacket really didn't go with the dress. Too bad it was so poorly made. The front of Elisa's dress was pretty but hated the dragon tail.
Is Kevin the only straight male?

For some reason, I kinda like Christian and I think his hair is cool. I had a haircut very similar in the 80's. :D He'll make things very interesting.

In between taking shots every time someone referred to themselves as "fierce" and shaking our fist at the skinny-and-hateable-but-totally-lovable Heidi Klum, Laura K. and I noticed something very early on in last night's first episode of Project Runway, season four: Elisa, our Dallas girl (she's a graduate of the Arts Magnet High School of Visual and Performing Arts) is a total nutcase. But?no surprise here?this is probably why she wasn't voted off last night after creating clearly the most horrifying dress of the evening.
Follow the jump for more info and an update on how our other contestant, Marion, fared in the first show (hint: He wasn't even close to an auffing). Photos courtesy of Bravotv.com.

The eyebrow raise began when she rubbed her fabric around in the grass at Bryant Park to get a natural grass stain on it. Then, she continued the crazy by sewing together approx. 10 feet of fabric, in all different colors, and affixing it to the back of her dress so it would flow behind the model in some sort of organic and earthy way. Then she went to take a nap (?). Well, it didn't work, and the model tripped and Elisa was sent to the bottom two. She was saved by the lethal combination of poor construction and boring color scheme of Simone's dress. But here's the craziest part: according to her bio, her clothing has appeared in Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, and Elle, just to name a few. And Steph says the construction of the dress itself shows the girl can show. So, maybe she will be around for a while.

Dallas' other contestant, Marion Lee (otherwise pre-PR as Jeffery Lee), flew under the radar last night, which is always a good thing. Weird that he referred to the amazing Urban Flower/Grange Hall (he's co-owner) as a "boutique," and then, "a flower shop," since they don't sell clothing and sell much more than flowers. But I've met him several times and he is a very sweet, humble person so hopefully he will go far in the competition.
