This is embarrassing to post, and I wouldn't if I could find info online, but can't. (gee, I wonder why...) Does anybody have any tips on keeping the squirrels from ravaging the pumpkins (not carved) everybody has setting outside for decorations? And I'm not looking to harm the squirrels or poinsoning them (no bleeding Audubon hearts, please). And I realize that it's normal, but good grief! It's just crazy. Every day, my pumpkins are basically disemboweled!!

 So sorry! I don't think I've ever had that problem before! I guess we just don't have that kind of critter here in Nooga. :dunno:
Well, it's possible that it's climate/regional related. Maybe it's a foraging thing for winter.

Johnrudy, perhaps you could throw many peanuts and sunflower seeds into your neighbors yard every day. This would keep the squirrels in their yard and make the Pumpkin not taste as tasty.

Bars of soap or soap shavings will repel them. Get creative with little motel soap bars! Maybe rub your pumpkins with the soap. :dunno:
I do know they do not like the smell of soap!
