"Back in the day" (1970's as well)...

I used to ride my bike to school. Without a helmet. And never once locked my bike to the rack. Elementary and junior high (middle school).

Here's the one that'll get ya...
I used to carry my .22 rifle to school. Many of us did. we would shoot bottles and cans at the vacant property and ball fields. Even had teachers who would participate.
We kept our rifles in our locker. And I remember kerping a box of shells in my locker.

Even had one teacher bring his muzzle loader in and allowed some of us to shoot the little cannon.

My God we've become a country of such political correct wuzzies.
Yes because guns at school is about what is politically correct. Is that 'cuz Jesus wrote the 2nd Amendmunt and now them wuzzies don't want no Jesus in school? Or because a 22 is a gun for little girls?

This thread gave me the giggles. When my kids went to Bay (because it was the ONLY school south of the bay in the 90s) they had trailers outside but they were only for the "big kids". Pretty sure the only reason that Butler got built was because the cost to bring Bay up to code was greater than the cost of building a new school. But growth made them open it back up for the "little kids" again. As for it being expanded..???. Isnt it on the historic register and really cant be altered or something? I would like to see it become some sort of local museum if they ever decide to close it as a school.

Bay isn't officially classified as historic but it certainly should be. A community center / museum would be perfect. But if that day does come our community needs to be ready to care for it. The only old school in Walton County that is comparable at this point is Glendale and it is fading fast.
