Up the hill from the Gateway Arch
OK, I'm sick of hearing about how much better these are than all the others. But the evidence is wearing me down; I can honestly tell the difference! There's actually a different look to "Chi hair." Mermaid, I know you bought Fyl one for Christmas. Is she loving it? If anyone else has one, I need your input, and I also need recommendations on specific models--there are a bunch, and I'm confused!

Too far from the beach (Chicago 'Burbs)
Mine isn't exactly wash and wear, but it is arrow straight. A few years ago I was thinking about getting a perm and one of my girlfriends with naturally curly hair actually threatened to kill me if I went through with it. She gets her hair straightened at a salon a few times a year - some Japanese process that is very expensive. It never ceases to amaze me how we women always seem to want what we don't have!

I used to have that hair, too. For years! But then I got tired of it; so I got a new look, but now I have more work! :dunno:

My daughter says she has the Chi with the red fuzzy stuff on it (I think it's the turbo?). As you know, there are several choices of width, depending on how long your hair is. BTW she always gets annoyed at those people selling flat irons from the carts at Lenox. They always flag her down, as if her hair could possibly get any straighter after using the Chi.

I like the FHI flat irons because that's what my stylist uses. My hair gets wavy, especially when it's humid outside, and the FHI really straightens it out to give it that funky, Asian look.

Except at the beach. I can spend forever straightening my hair prior to going out to dinner, and before we even get the group photo taken, my hair will frizz up. So my hair always looks like hell when I'm at the beach. :pissed: I used to have it long enough to French-braid at the beach, but it's so thin that it looked like hell all of the time *except* when I was at the beach.

Yes, the red fuzzy one is the turbo. Interesting about the FHI--I ran across that brand while looking for Chis, and I thought maybe the FHI was a knockoff designed to confuse people...! Thanks for the info and input, BR!

I've had trouble using a flat irons. Have bought 2 & returned them. Maybe I should try a Chi but they seem so $$$$. Everytime I use one, my hair gets incredibly puffy with static! I totally have to re-wash it. Anyway, I don't have wavy or curly hair and not straight, just nasty semi-wavy. So I have to use salon priced shampoos, conditioners and very strong styling products and a round brush. That's what smooths my nastiness & frizzies out. I can never let it air dry.
So, I would love to try a flat iron occasionally, if it made it look better, not worse!!

Have you tried an ionic hair dryer? Helps with the frizzies and shortens the drying time.
Both of those that I had were ionics. Maybe that's my problem tho!! I'm blow-drying my hair 1st. Isn't that correct??
