He would replace Jim Bunning who is a mean spirited/right wing and/or senile senator.
Our other senator is from Louisville - rare to have someone elected state wide from the largest city/economic engine - who went to UL and is a UL fan.
The Randy supporter, almost as he is stepping on her head, is claiming it was her fault:) Nice spin.
Jack Conway, even before the 'Aqua Buddha' commercials, could not win. He is from Louisville and worse yet - went to DUKE:) (Those out of the basketball loop, a few years ago uk lost to Duke in a hotly contested game in the NCAA.)
What is interesting is Jack Conway did a stupid commercial - usually the kind done by the Republicans in this state - but we don't do these things well, so it has backfired on him. Mitch McConnell was first elected years ago with a good ole boy commercial with a dog chasing a man who was supposedly his opponent.
It is very simple for me. I vote Democratic because the Republican party has always attracted racists and people who are anti-inclusive. I'm not saying all Republicans are like that, just their party embraces/encourages those people.
Our local paper, the Courier Journal, ran a story Sunday about your Rick Scott, reminding us that he had lived in Louisville and what he has done. He was going to build a huge new bldg here. I think Birgmingham got the big empty bldg instead.
On election day, I am reminded how lucky I am to vote. Which I haven't missed since I started voting in the 60s. Also, how sad that so many people don't vote - alot has to do with the voting structure. Here in ky, it is 6:00 am to 6:00 pm. Not user friendly. Should be a holiday. Everything shut down. I grew up with the Blue Laws. I think one or two days a year, our country could come to a screeching halt and everyone vote.

p.s. Now I can say we will be returning to 30A next month:)

thank you for your post. I agree with the idea of shutting down and taking a day to vote. I, too, have voted every chance I've had because it is such a privilege..I am often reminded of those proud Iraqi people who turned out in such numbers, risking their very lives, to vote; the joy in their eyes and faces as they proudly held up their inkstained fingers is an image I will never forget.

We have so much to be thankful for in this country and we have given so much in blood and treasure to bring democracy to other countries...sometimes when I think we should have minded our own business...but, my son and others' sons and daughters answered the call of our country and gave their unselfish service to the cause to which we all claim to believe.

One would think that we could come together and at least vote--and then perhaps persuade our elected officials that working together is a greater calling than winning the next election. One can only hope and continue to vote.

Glad you are headed back to Sowal...

As a Kentuckian by birth now living in Blue Mountain Beach, I am embarrassed that Rand will probably get elected.

As a Floridian, I feel the same way about Rubio.

Everyone has the right to vote for whom ever they wish. It is what makes America great. My first vote was for Dwight Eisenhower in 1952. I was a A/2C in the Air Force. Everyone should exercise their right to vote. My only regret, regardless of what your voting position may be, is that so many who vote are so woefully uninformed on the issues pertaining to whom they are voting for.

I don't feel that great about any of the candidates, Republican or Democrat, but as always, I voted. I live in Kentucky also. Being a UK fan , I know I couldn't vote for Conway since he graduated from Duke!lol Just kidding. It will be interesting to see how everyone voted tonight.....

Right here!
Rand is very similar to his father in terms of his political views. (He's a bit more conservative on social issues.) Since Ron will likely be retiring in the next ten years, we'll need a replacement libertarian.. Rand is that guy, and he's going to win!
