What a truly amazing man who was such an inspiration to millions. My prayers go to his family, who was so generous in sharing him with the world.

Reading his book, The Last Lecturer, will make you humble. It may or may not change your view of the world, but it will certainly make you think. I think he died a happy man, with a filled life. I know he was an inspiration to many people, and he will be missed. In his book, he mentioned a letter which someone sent him, which was a quote from Krishnamurti, a spiritual guru. Krishnamurti said (paraphrasing) that when a person dies, a little piece of the people he knows, dies with him.

Randy and his family are not alone, and I'm sure they feel the love.

His lecture and book may have touched millions, but the most important thing is the legacy he left for his three young children. They may not remember him well, but they will definitely know him and have so much to still learn from him. What a priceless gift. I have seen firsthand that not everyone has the ability to set aside a part of themselves for the future like that, even when it is doubtful that they have long to live. Randy Pausch was very special indeed.

Randy Pausch had a remarkable spirit. I saw his last lecture at CM, read his book, saw him again on Primetime with Diane Sawyer (very moving)and followed the website on his progress.

He was always looking for ways to impact his children later and I liked the info he wanted to leave his daughter when she was old enough to date someone. He wanted her to ignore everything they said, instead look carefully at everything they did. My Daddy used to saw the very same thing.

Rest in peace Randy.

He is survived by his wife, Jai, and three children: Chloe, Dylan and Logan. The family requests that donations on his behalf be directed to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, 2141 Rosecrans Ave., Suite 7000, El Segundo, CA 90245, or to Carnegie Mellon's Randy Pausch Memorial Fund, which the university will use primarily to support continued work on the Alice project.
