Red Tide at Seagrove??

I'm bummed to hear that the Red Tide is still causing ill effects!!
We left Seagrove on 10/01 after dealing with RT for a week!!
Headed back down on 10/19 and thought RT was not as much of a problem (cough). Sounds like it is....any other reports out there, please??

Red Tide Updat 10/14 - Explains why I've been coughing and have a scratchy throat. Maybe that's why my dog isn't eating?

NORTHWEST FLORIDA
A Florida red tide continues in northwest Florida. Distribution of Karenia brevis, the Florida red tide organism, remains patchy in bay areas from Escambia County to Wakulla County. Up to high concentrations of K. brevis were found in St. Andrew Bay (Bay County), and up to medium concentrations were found in Choctawhatchee Bay (Okaloosa County) and St. Andrew Sound (Franklin County). Above-backgrounds concentrations of K. brevis were also found this week south of Cedar Key in Levy County. Fish kills were reported from Okaloosa, Walton, Bay, Franklin, and Taylor counties. Commercial shellfish harvesting continues to be affected.

Please make it go away! My two sisters and I are driving down next Thursday for a long weekend of shopping/beach/par-tay-ing! This is their first trip down. I've already warned them about the beaches not being what they once were...I hate to drop the ball to them about the stinky red tide!

The red tide is only in the BAYS. If you're at the beach, you won't have a problem.

We haven't noticed any red tide at all on the bay. I haven't noticed any red tide anywhere in the last week or so. Walked along the beach this morning and didn't notice anything.

Here's my deal...I have had bronchitis since Oct.3. Stayed away from beach because of RT alerts. Finally went beaching on Oct. 6 and had a little scratchy throat....it's been fine ever since! gttbm is correct...RT seems to be HISTORY at the beach. There are still some fish carcasses around here at WC from that "busting" and "balling"...serves the little boogers right for eating my minnow friends!

Not having read this whole thread...someone may have already asked this question.... however...

why is it in my 50+ years at grayton beach I never heard of or experienced Red Tide until recently. I'm thinking it is because no one was there when Red Tide was and now people are there ALL the time. Ya think? Scientific information anyone? I also never saw Love Bugs until the last few years. I'm sure my Grandaddy could give me the answer.

Thanks for the reassurance. We'd have fun down there no matter what, but I'd love for them to be able to spend some time on the beach. I've been telling them for years about the beautiful white sand and emerald water that compares to no other! I realize that it's not what it was, but they'll get the idea. I suspect that once I get them down to 30-A, they'll not want to leave either!
