DuneAHH,
I have been searching for words since we got the news that Greg had left us but yours were so eloquent there is not much more I can say. We will miss him terribly. Ed and I are here if there is anything at all that you need. Much love,
Erin and Ed

Thank you dear Audie for letting me know of this thread's existence. The community outpourings of love and affection for our Greg is heartwarming and uplifting; an incredible blessing to me in this time. KitLit may have best expressed my feelings too, with what she whispered in his ear just minutes before he passed "How in happy hail are we supposed to go on without you?"

When I was being pitiful on Sunday he beamed in and stuck a little
"buck-up-baby" steel rod in my back! And during that pep talk he answered Kit's question, "All of you will figure it out... together."

This wonderful man touched so many people's lives. His larger than life 'public' persona was merely the tip of the berg... in absolute contrast to immensity that existed beneath the water line. Greg was my ROCK... always a gentleman, quiet, genius, brilliant, sharp as a steel trap, disciplined, happy & ever optimistic, unfailingly generous, charming, creative, loyal, and of course utterly unique.

Stay tuned... there will be a Life Celebration Party! Over the last couple of days he's sorta been expanding and filling in some details to his living directive.

It was such an honor to have Greg France as my best friend, mentor... and yes, when I finally got off my tuff... husband :)

Thank You All for Loving him too!

Absolutely beautiful DuneAHH.... Greg will be greatly missed but his memories will live forever. Please let me know if I can do ANYTHING for you.

People have asked "what can I say / do ?" I would say sharing any personal experience with Greg that touched you and exemplifies why he made your/our world a better place... be it funny, touching, educational, raucous... are a welcome joy for us all.

For instance, we're compiling a list of his famously favorite sayings:

"This ain't my first rodeo"
"I'm fit as a dancing bear!" [response to How ya doin' Greg?]
"Just teaching elephants to tap dance!" [Whaddaya been up to France?]
"That's cute as a speckled pup"
"Opporknockety only tunes once. Be ready to grab it when it does!"
"Tomorrow's promised to no one"

and the rarely heard growl
"This sucks eggs and barks at the moon."

Please share :))

"Fine as frogs fur.......
"
and.........".Honey, I'm home!"

The last quote could be heard anywhere, an example would be when he walked into a hardware store, or in a stranger's house.

Greg loved this dog! I don't think I've ever seen him belly laugh as long and hard as he did watching this over & over & over again.

"the maple kind? yea?"

became a fave response for any & everything.
I could say "I got toilet paper at Publix today" and this would be his response.
