If they are the only ones talking and are not being denounced by the Christian community................

Same thing with the Islamic religion and terrorism. The only way this idiocy stops is if people repeatedly and publicly denounce certain opinions and actions - otherwise you are giving them your tacit approval.

Did you just compare Pat Robertson to Islamic terrorists?

YES!

One religious leader saying innocent people deserve to suffer and die for a religious choice (made generations ago) and using the puplit to spread discord and hatred is the same as another.

I have had it with people claiming so-and-so's extreme actions or words don't represent all of their group.

Until you publicly (and repeatedly) denounce them and make them suffer consequences for their behavior they will just continue to do it.

Mormons, Muslims, moderates, right-to-lifers, Christians, sports fans, voters, you name it, it's time to step up and clean house!

Quit whining about how these people don't represent you and do something to actually make sure they DON'T!

I must have missed the news flash of Pat Robertson strapping a bomb to his chest and causing a horrific eathquake in Haiti. I don't agree with what he said, but I don't consider him a terrorist, and by doing so you diminish every act of real terrorism in the world.

No, what you missed was the christian terrorist Pat Robertson in 1985 claiming to have diverted hurricane Gloria's path causing it to slam into North Carolina and Long Island causing $900 million ($1.78 billion in todays dollars) in damage and claiming eight lives.

The angry faces are directed at Pat Robertson because he's a first rate A-hole. I don't believe this prick has any super powers or represents God but he and his followers do and that makes him a very dangerous individual.

I will not respond to your ridiculous questions about Katrina.

Are you defending Pat Robertson or Minnie? :dunno:
This sounds like an attack on Shellak. I read Minnie's article and it just reinforces what Shellak said... that as a Christian, it is perfectly acceptable to offer an opinion on how they measure up. The author did just that.

Mango Hey,

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. If there is any problem in communication, I prefer to clear it up. I apologize for any confusion on my part. I actually felt so comfortable on this thread that I was talking to Shellak like I would one of my close friends that already knows me and knows where I'm coming from. So with that in mind, let me backtrack and say this in a different way.

I like Shellak's fire and thought the thread started was needed so people could say what they think on the subject. That's why I posted the 3 videos of the 3 subjects that were in the title and said what I thought. I'm not interested in attacking people, but I am interested in getting to the truth in situations.

There were 2 things I didn't agree with in the media and posts, the 3rd & 4th is the positive approach, 5th is the Hallmark: 1.Prejudice- (Judgment made without ascertaining the facts) People grouping all Christians in with Robertson as if he represented every Christians viewpoint 2.Judgment- (To condemn someone from a position of assumed moral superiority and to determine the reward or punishment of that human being) People pulling out yardsticks to measure the worth of the Christian. 3. Discernment- (see) People that see the situation for what it is, but proceed with 4. Wisdom- (The ability to optimally, effectively, and efficiently, apply perceptions and knowledge to produce desired results) 5. LOVE- The Hallmark of Christianity.

The point I was trying to make was all of us at one time or another have said/done something we would rather not have, and it's good to point these things out, but not to pronounce final judgment on that person since we are subject to the same mistakes.

So why didn't I just say all that in the first place? Like I said, I really liked the fact that everyone was saying what they thought, but if I am doing stinking thinking I would rather someone oppose me than let me continue. If you do not agree with that, or would rather think how you want regardless of the outcome, I respect that, but again I don't have to agree with you. I will actually still like you because each of us has the freedom to live how we choose.

Again, I might disagree with you, but it doesn't mean that I don't like you, it just means I disagree with your viewpoint and that's o.k. It's o.k. if you disagree with me.
I'm just not going to go round and round with it. If someone disagrees with me, I just drop it. I will say what I believe in a situation, but I am not going to run you down to get you to agree with me. Believe what you want, it's your life.

Shellak, I apologize for miscommunication on my part.

Minnie, you might check CNN's website, they interviewed a couple from Tennessee at the airport waiting to leave. I think they were from Johnson city but I might be wrong.
