I got red chicleted by SWGB - does that mean I'm a Republican? :dunno:

Or does it just mean that some give out a lot of red chiclets?

Big girl panties and cojones are required to post in the politics forum. If you don't have a pair of either, don't post and save us all some whining.
I got one too from someone I've never heard of before. It is just my opinion but take them and the reps and stick them where the sun don't shine.

I am Republican and I have a great sense of humor. So, sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me. This is silly but so true.

I think the discussion of how "immature" people are with using rep shows the actual maturity of those posters.

The rep function is mostly intended for vBulletin boards used for technical issues and lets a user know at a glance whether someone is providing help or just running their mouth.

I'll be happy to state that the majority of my rep has come from helping folks on this board in more important threads like rentals, real estate, nature, etc.

I'll be the first to ask that kurt simply turn off the rep and thanks function in the political forum. It might make it more of a discussion.

I'm not sure it can be turned off in a single area of the BB, and the member would still display their number.

It comes up on every BB sooner or later; those with negative numbers whine and say they are being targeted, and can never understand why they are so. Typically, they are the ones starting flame wars and the ones who start deleting their posts. Their threads are, of course, the ones that most likely will be locked. ymmv.

I like SoWal. It is the only BB on which I post or that I read. I don't care what "internet BB protocol" is or isn't as it falls in the same category as political correctness as far as I am concerned. If it is part of the "demanded" procedure I can accept it but it is also my perogative to believe that overall it is useless. And, as far as being targeted, I can stand that also. I am certainly not "whining" about the number of reps I receive. As I previously stated, I don't understand fully how they work, what their purpose is and could care less. I am interested in what all peole say whether I agree with them or not and the ones who post on SoWal are far brighter than the average bear regardless of their political stance. While we're at it, I also think the "ignore" button is ridiculous. If you don't like someone's post, skip to the next one and forget it. Merry Christmas to all SoWallers and their guests!!!

You once gave me a red rep. and a cute little note once. You told me I was not here long enough to give advice or to point someone in the right direction. Dude,I have lived here all of my and lived in Seagrove and Panama City Beach.I probably know more about this area than you.Since I do not have 19,000 posts and spend quite amount of time away from my computer screen,I guess I do not have the "special privilige" to help someone out.
I will keep my lifelong knowledge of this area to myself for now on and let you do all of the "helping" for now on oh keeper of the gate.

You almost got it. When I told you I had been here longer than you it was in reference to you telling me to leave. As usual you have twisted and distorted the facts to attempt a one up on someone. You should probably spend less time at your computer. I don't have that option as it's my primary source of income.

Since it's the holidays I'm feeling generous.

This is exactly my point. I was told the same thing. There was a post early on that eluded to the fact that a low post count doesn't carry much weight here. There was another post about "the elite" group of posters disagree... I think the truth is once you post an opposing view these same people will try anything to discredit you. Even going out of their way to rack up negative rep pts on someone.

We should see a tally on who gives out the most negative rep pts. It would easily show who can't get along with others.

I've given positive rep a lot. I don't think i've ever given a red chicklet, but i could be wrong. I like to pat someone on the back occasionally, but wasting my time on something I find offensive and will just put me in a bad mood anyway? What's the point really? :dunno:

In Kindergarten now the kids have a red, yellow, and green status.
