and of course, the GOP is the party of morality and integrity and family values as everyone has been brainwashed into believing wholeheartedly. this really cracks me up. I'm thinking this lie is finally being realized by many people outside of the christian right winger group, which is something.

This is especially funny when using a restroom in Minneapolis. Just think, all of the Republicans that had to go through that airport this week. I saw where a reporter from Tampa made a special trip to the "scene of the crime".

Yes.

I doubt it.

I do not think so.

Extra curricular activity

The sponsor

The Constitution of the United States of America.

All groups have to be treated equally when accessing public facilities.

I do not know.

Robert, since you want to be on the School Board, don't you think it would be good to know if tax money is used to fund these groups? I don't think the Constitution governs how Walton County spends its school funding. Is there a written policy setting out the "fair treatment" for use of the school facilities?

It is my understanding that such groups meet before or after school. There is also Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

I am paying close attention to the case over in Santa Rosa County, where school officials are accused of misusing their positions to promote their religious beliefs. It is shocking that this is happening in 2008.

They follow the same rules as the Key Club, Anchor Club, and all the other Clubs.

Yes, the Santa Rosa thing is going to be something to watch. It appears that the adults went over the line at first glance. The same thing happened in Holmes County recently. Last I heard it cost them around $350K for failing to treat everyone the same. That is a true shame as Holmes County could really use those dollars in other areas.

Okay.

I'd really appreciate it if you, or someone could point me in the right direction for the Walton County directive that governs the time, space, and funding of these groups.

I just want to take a quick post to thank tonight's posters that are discussing and not attacking. I wish all the political threads could be like this! Our adrenaline is up, but nobody is being ugly, snarkey, or posting irrelevant or unnecessary comments!

Is this a county by county thing..My son did not go to school here; but in the Florida school he did attend, there were lots of clubs, but all tied to educational events, not religious ones.

The Equal Access Act passed in 1984 is what opened the door. My understanding is if they allow any non-curriculum clubs, then they have to allow all non-curriculum clubs.

Any women that you know of?

None that I can think of. Anyone else?[/QUOTE]

Senator Specter and Secretary Cohen are great Americans in my book. They have each served the country...no matter what their religious or party affilication.
