I've shipped both USPS and UPS overseas.
I've had much better luck with UPS, but neither of them have ever lost anything.
Two years ago I shipped our older kid's winter jacket to him in France via USPS, and it took weeks and weeks. He got it the day after he'd finally broken down and bought himself a jacket.

Linda, which freight forwarder do you work for? I was in air freight for a lot of years before my current job. I worked for AC Express and Eagle Global Logistics.

I work for a medium sized forwarder that only has offices in Chicago, Miami and LA. Called Rim Logistics. But I've been with a lot of others - Yusen, Fritz (now UPS) Tower Group (now Fedex) MSAS (now DHL.) See a pattern there? I'm dreading the day Rim sells out, if they do. When I started here 7 years ago we had about 15 employees. By the way, I remember using AC Express for all my in-bond moves when I was with MSAS - they were a trucking company, correct?

And IWIWT - after reading thru all the responses, I retract my initial advice about using a freight forwarder. But I would definitely try one of the major couriers next time and see if they do better than the USPS.

AC Express was based in Chicago, Detroit and Cleveland. I was a dispatcher and had very frequent contact with many of the forwarders in Cleveland and Chicago. I used to go to Ord every other month for a couple of days but never really got to see the city. My wife worked recently for Kuehne and Nagel in Cleveland in Air Imports. She was there for 8 years.

glad it finally got there.

just as an fyi, the more you can put on the package label the better;

XYZ Hotel
Hold for Guest Suzie Sunshine
Arrival Date: 4/16/07
Confirmation #: 123456789
Package 1 of 1

the more info the receiving clerk has, the better the chance of it waiting in the room or at the bell desk upon arrival.
