I know!

I mean, I don't eat a lot of meat either, but when I want a good steak I will have one! never need to proclaim myself a veg. since I eat and enjoy lots of animal products from milk, eggs, cheese to poultry, cheeseburgers, and tons of seafood. etc. I do like some vegeterian dishes - and I love the idea of organic and whole foods - but no need to go to the extreme to enjoy these choices. life is food. food is life.

for the health of it is a great place to shop for organic foods and health supplements, regardless of your choice to eat meat or not.

I guess making good choices is where I would rather focus.

let's eat, shall we?

Yay! Toots is back.:clap:Missed you!!!

Update on me: I am finally BETTER!!!!! Wooohoo. BUT--- today Mr OL and I went shopping all day so no time to exercise. I had THEE best salad at the Cheescake Factory.. OMG. the hula salad was to die for. Totally not on the ole diet but who cares. Tomorrow I'm back on the horse and the exercise regime!

I bought a cute top and 2 new sun dresses. :clap:If you ever come to Columbus you have to go to Easton Town Center for shopping. It's the best and it was the most gorgeous day...low 80's and not a cloud in the sky, my kind of day. The Columbus Zoo was there for kiddies and it was so cute to watch them marvel at the animals and play in the fountains.

the weather sounds perfect! its hot as hail here. summer has officially arrived. sweating inside the house today, with a/c on. but I'm going to try to enjoy this summer, heat and all!

well, now that is an entirely different story since vegetarianism is not the same as healthy eating, but it can be one way to achieve healthy eating if done properly. that's what we are all trying to do around here (this thread). and while I've learned a lot and have a good start, I have a way to go. maybe we can share more tasty recipes along the way. there are several included on this thread so far...:D

Don't hate the meat! :D

I am a total carnivore, but it's still "healthy eating" because I am eating good portions and real food instead of preservatives and fake stuff to make it taste/look like real food.

Would love some new basic veggie recipes though - I have been jazzing up salads with Toni's sprouts and arugula, but most of my veggies are either grilled, steamed, or sauteed w/ butter, cracked pepper and balsamic.

Some things to jazz up your salad: fresh green beans, mango, asparagus, nuts, apples, yellow & red peppers,. I'm still thinking of the luau salad I had yesterday. I can tell it's gonna be one of those things that I dream about and have to have.:D

My new best friend that I met on a flight last week (she is an OBGYN and does a radio show on womens health) recommended Ultraprevention: The 6-Week Plan That Will Make You Healthy for Life. It was written by the co-directors of medicine at Canyon Ranch, Mark Liponis and Mark Hyman. Mark Hyman also has an audio book, The Five Forces of Wellness: The Ultraprevention System for Living an Active, Age-Defying, Disease-Free Life. I think I might try that one first.
