Water...let's talk water. Hate it. My question is..if I drink tea, coffee, etc., am I still getting my water in? I force myself to drink plain old water, but I am so hoping someone will tell me it doesn't matter as long as I get it in some form. :dunno:

I really like cold water. nothing quenches thirst like it. but if I'm not in a habit of drinking it constantly (currently the case) then I only get around to drinking water a few times a day. not good.

That sounds good. I'd go ahead and use real sugar though, but that's because I hate sugar substitutes. I'd also go with low-sodium soy sauce and cut out the demi-glace altogether. Most broths and boullions are loaded with lots of unnecessary sodium.
To get the sauce to thicken, toss the chicken in a little corn starch before sauteeing. It should be just enough to thicken the sauce the right amount.

I don't use any kind of substitute - give me real and natural - usually best as far as flavor and health, imo.

:funn:It does to me!

Oh, and I am waiting for that new show on TLC that starts on March 16th called I Can Make You Thin. Paul McKenna will be the host. You can read about him here. I have been a bad Darlene. I need to get back on track real soon. July will be here before I know it.

You can eat whatever you want (IMO it's better for you anyway), the secret is in portion control, moderation, cutting out all of the unnecessary snacks/drinks and regular exercise.

No, it's easy - for example:

-If you had more than 3 glasses of champagne at lunch, no wine at dinner
-Instead of ordering dessert, order 2 desserts for 3 people - you just cut calories (and some of the hard decision making, which causes wrinkles.)
-Anything served on lettuce/greens is a salad! :D

scoot: I like this kind of eating, and I agree with it completely. portion control, moderation, leave off unnecessary stuff... and regular exercise.

good lord, if I had 3 glasses of champagne at lunch I wouldn't need dinner because I would be in bed by then. maybe that is one of the secrets...

OK, so I went back to the trainer yesterday after 3 weeks off and I had no interest whatsoever in getting back to exercising. I thought that people who exercise regularly find it easy to get back to exercises. But my wonderful trainer said that most people find it easy to get off the exercise track and hard to get back on - they just do the exercise anyway and eventually get back to enjoying it. So that was good for me to hear because I was feeling like I should be loving the exercise by now - and I don't. So, if you don't love doing your exercise, you can assume you're normal and just keep doing it anyway.

I have made some really good dishes over the years, but hubby says that this is one of the best I've ever made. I modified a recipe from the South Beach diet cookbook. It has about zero calories and is easy to make.

Cannellini Bean Salad
2 Tbsp. EVOO
1 Tbsp. vinegar (not white)
1 Tbsp. minced red onion
? tsp. dried oregano (I used fresh basil instead)
2 medium cucumbers, cut into small bite-sized pieces
1 red bell pepper, coarsely chopped
1 (15 oz) can cannellini beans
Garlic salt and pepper, to taste

Whisk the EVVO, vinegar, onions, and herbs. Add cucumbers, red pepper, and beans and stir. Add garlic salt and pepper to taste.
