My contribution is this...don't OD on sugar. I was really grooving yesterday on good food and then I saw sarafunn's box of Jelly Bellys from Santa. I don't eat jelly beans, but I got hooked on trying all the flavors. I feel like poo poo today. :sosad: It really serves me right and I will remember this feeling.

Wow, sounds like this board has gotten lots of people off to a good start for 2007 :clap_1: I got myself a trainer and met with her yesterday and I like her very much. A lot of work with light-moderate weights and one of those big balls because I wanted to learn exercises I could do at home without having to go to a gym. We'll work with those big rubber bands next week. I like having her to talk to throughout the exercises. I've tried trainers now and then but this is the first time we really "clicked" -- So, I'm seeing her twice next week and in about a month I'll switch to once a week.

Well, I have to go to the basement now to walk on the treadmill for 30 minutes before I go to work... See ya... And let's behave and stay healthy this weekend.

DD Whip Wench and All sowell wenches: so good to see you all making progress, talking goals, etc in the new year on sowal! I'll be joining you soon, but now I'm just eating meatloaf and mashed potatoes since mama is here helping take care of me. Ankle is feeling better, and I'm still on doctor's orders to stay on my back with foot elevated for a few more weeks. then I'm going to need some serious sowell help here.

keep up the good work!

:clap_1:

Great to have you back on board, Toots. Glad you're being well taken care of. Maybe you can practice mind exercises and learn meditation -- I hear it's a great thing to know how to do and hope to learn it myself this year.

paula - you go! this sounds like such a great start. exercise is the best thing you can do for yourself.

I can't wait to start back pilates (group class and private sessions on reformer). I did this for about 3 months prior to the holidays, and so many folks commented that I had lost a lot of weight. I'm telling you I only lost about 4 or 5 pounds total. the pilates had made a difference in toning and re-shaping my body. my clothes fit better. I think if I can continue this, after ankle recovery, then weight loss will also occur, but I'm not that concerned about weight loss. just fitness and feeling good.

I may be able to start pilates while still in a cast because much of it is supported floor work.

keep it up Paula, and everyone. You are all inspiring me even as I sit on the sofa!!!:clap_1:

Thanks, Toots. Pilates could indeed work because I could do them at home, in SoWal, anywhere I think. My coach could probably some moves to me and then I could take a class, too. Everyone who has done pilates says they work. I realized by working with this coach that I'm more social an exercise than I thought I was because one of the advantages of the coach is not only that she teaches me stuff and helps, but she's interesting at conversation. Doesn't hurt that we found out that our daugthers hang out together and her daughter was at our house for dinner before the homecoming dance this fall!

So, last night I bought weights, an exercise ball, and a heart monitor because I'm supposed to work harder to get my heart rate up during aerobic exercises. I need to get new exercise clothes because I pulled out the old black leggings with white stripes up and down the sides (from 15 years ago) though the coach said they were out of style but are now coming back into style.

This coaching thing is EXPENSIVE but I realized it's probably the only way I'm going to do it, so it's the splurge I'm going to do for myself this year.

SGL, I was a faithful FIRM user several years ago, those tapes were so difficult but definitely delivered results. The ones I have are from the older series and I did them so long that I can not stand to do them any more. What are the titles of the ones you are using now and do you use all the different boxes. I just have one box and it is not adjustable, I think it is 8 or 10 inches tall.

My 19 y/o son stays on me all the time to get back to the gym. He told me I HAD been a good example to him because I always made time to exercise. I don't know what happened, other than I just got lazy. It has been a couple of years since I exercised with any consistency. But I am going to start back tomorrow. Once I get in the habit of making exercise part of my day, then I really miss it when I don't. Habit being the key work.

What I ordered came with five tapes and two boxes (one large one small) This really is a great workout. The tapes are ...Supercharged sculpting, Jiggle free arms and jiggle free Abs, Utimate calorie buster and Aerobic body shaping. It's called the Transfirmer Series, and it has a three week planner to get you started. I like it so far, I have to really....I NEED IT !!!!! but I can so understand how you are sickof them, I did tae-bo faithfully for years and now I can't stand to even hear Billy Blanks voice!!!! Good Luck to you, I will keep you posted.;-)

Okay, Sowellers! Where are ya! I'm hanging in there on WW. I went to my second week weigh in and lost 3.8 pounds. I'm finding out that I really can't eat any kind of junk food...like baked lays etc.. I just want more if I eat a little. It's best not to even start.

How's everyone else doing?

3.8 lbs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yippee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've been bad. It's been crappy weather, so I've been cooking/eating:bang: No excuse.
I did watch Oprah with Bob Greene on Monday and got kinda motivated to at least check out his new diet book. You can get it free at Tom Thumb if you buy $50 worth of the foods he recommends. Some of the success stories were pretty inspiring.
Today was the first day since I started taking the Wellbutrin that I just for a fleeting moment thought, "this cigarette tastes like sheeeeeit". Maybe there's something to it...my quit day is Feb 14.
OL--keep it up!! YOU are inspiring!! Good girl!!! :clap_1: :clap_1:
