Update from Kenya for those who need reading material!

Okay so another amazing day...or few days I guess!
We went yesterday to another village called Dandora Valley, another slum of course and watched some amazing skits and songs by the Compassion children in that project. We also then took visits to parents and children of Compassion who had aids. We got to talk to them about how they handled it, the treatment compassion provided for them and the work compassion gave them to still be able to support their families. We went to a father and his 11 year old daughters home who were both HIV positive. They were full of more joy than most wealthy and healthy people I have ever met. So long story short....next thing was we drove about an hour and a half out into the country to a boys home and we found out shortly after we got there that Bigstuf had the whole thing funded for these boys. We pulled up and there was a blue ribbon with balloons across the driveway entrance and a big sign that said "BigStuf House" on the side. Lanny cut the tape and we all were the guests of honor for a welcome ceremony and opening of the school. The school was started by a preacher. He had no money and a 10 ft by 10 ft home with start of 4 boys and himself. When Lanny met them in March he decided to help fund a school and dormitories for all of the boys and it has grown now to 30 boys. Another long story short...more to come!

TODAY

we went to Kabera slums and while some were playing with the kids and watching their performances, I had the most awesome privelage to help out in the clinic that the doc and his wife who came with us set up in the compassion project church. I checked the temperature under the armpits of about 200 people....parents and children. It was the most stressful but amazing thing I have done! Then left and had a leiserly lunch and a little time shopping. There is so many amazing things happening within the next couple days that I wish I could share with you now but it is 11 and the computer room is closing.

I love you more than words and I cant wait to get to talk and see how all is going with you!

Tomorrow we are going to the MASAI tribes valley....you know the ones who carry spears and war paint and long hair and braids....the real thing, and I will be there!! LOVE YOU!!!wow a million times over...I fell in love today with the Masai tribe. They are truly incredible people and I am so thrilled after my experience today. They live very far out in the plains and once we got there they had a skit prepared by the parents about a marriage. It was so cute with all of their own culturely excepted humor. They made fun of epilectics in the skit, one man was one and everytime something would happen he would have a seizure and they thought it was just the funniest thing. They were all extremely loving and they were dressed in colorful wraps and colorful beaded jewelry. I do know that for some reason these people loved me, i dont know why but the whole day I received 6 beaded gifts but I gave 4 away to girls who had only gotten one thing. so I ended up with a very neat necklace and a cool hair clip. Several times women and 1 certain man (who I got to know very well) just came up to me and said here and put a necklace on me or bracelet. It was such a nice way to honor us, even though we were complete strangers. We also visited a house way out in the wilderness. The common habitat and wildlife of the area are zebras, wildabeast, giraffes, cows, sheep, goats and gazelle. The house we went to is the home of the boy one of our interns, Josh, is sponsoring. His mother hugged me tighter than I can remember anyone in a long time doing. They served us food, I cant say that it was the best I ever had but we respected them and ate what they served us. On our way out there we had to drive off the road in tall grass almost like a safari, and then we had to walk through it with animals all around about a 1/2 mile to the home. They also served us food at the Masai village, a big goat that they showed us and was still completely in tact, just dead and cooked. It was a struggle to eat all of the food they fed us because we were unaware at where it has come from, but we still did and I enjoyed it even so!! It is hard for them to get that much food and it was the best they had. They wanted to serve us and they certainly did. Then as we were leaving they gave each one of us another beaded gift. They were just so loving and happy and full of Gods joy. They have also given up most of their ungodly traditions and are now following God as a whole and following His ways! It was amazing and I cannot wait to show you pictures momma!!! Tomorrow morning we fly on Kenyan Airways to where we will be going on our safari. Then we stay the night in a luxury tent (with tile floors and bathrooms and all, it is crazy) and come back on monday and then head to the airport for a long ride home. I am very sad to know I will not see the beautiful faces of those children again or at least not for a long time but I do know my heart was with the Masai tribe and for them I will be thankful and praise God and ask His greatest blessings on them!

I love you so very much and I am so thrilled to hear your voice very soon!!

your daughter who loves you very much!!

Although to me, saying "Dick Root" is funny in any context except for his unfortunate death.
