"A Man Without A Country" -Kurt Vonnegut (so a little repetitive here, but I first read this book in ninth grade...every friend I have loaned it too has laughed out loud during the first few pages...really quick read, you could finish it in one sitting at the beach...but does require a certain type of humor).

My 21yr old babysitter is reading this book right now. When I saw it I wondered if it was any good! I might have to borrow it from her. I need quick reads.

I read books three at a time: a brain candy book, an intellectual book, and something literary.

Currently --

Brain Candy: Bringing Home the Birkin
Haven't been super impressed so far...it's a good insight into the marketing of luxury items, but beyond that it's pretty light. Brain candy is supposed to be light, but.... At least the cover is awesome. It looks like a red crocodile Birkin bag.

Intellectual : A Problem from Hell Samantha Power
This book is depressing, and makes me feel like I've wasted my life because I am one year younger than Samantha Power, and she's had so many amazing experiences. I admire her adventurous spirit. It's a book you should read, but probably won't want to.

Literary: Intuition Allegra Goodman
Good book.

I've also ordered My Mistress' Sparrow is Dead

Definitely looking forward to David Sedaris -- I'll have to make a field trip to Borders in the next few days.

Right now I'm reading A Wolf at the Table: A Memoir of my Father by Augusten Burroughs. So far it's very different from his previous books (Running With Scissors and Sellevision in particular made me laugh out loud) but it's very well-written and interesting, if a little dark.

I just finished The Chris Farley Show, written by Tom Farley, Jr.
Tom (Chris' older brother) gathered commentary from Chris Farley's friends and family an strung them together to create very vivid and heartbreaking story of his life.

Just finished Twilight. It is our book club pick for June. I read it in one day (500 pages of page turning fun) - a perfect, mindless beach read. It is supposed to be a young adult book, one of the moms read it with her 13 year old daughter, liked it so much that we are all reading it!
I've had this series recommended several times to me. I almost bought it at Sundog, but they didn't have it in hardcover.

Looking forward to the Sedaris--I'll check the library for the audiobook!

Punzy, your books sound like they're way over my head.

Parrothead, I am proud to say that I've almost finished my master's degree and have STILL never read a textbook! :D
