I love all of Bill Bryson's books- they are laugh out loud funny in a Dave Berry kind of way- but Walk in the Woods was particularly fabulous.

"The Ride of Our Lives" is even more funny. :rotfl:

Thanks everyone for the recommendations! I have added several to my "to read" list.

Water For Elephants is one of my favorites. Also liked Molokai and Shantaram. Shantaram was unbelievable at times but the writing was amazing!

For those of you who like historical fiction - try The Given Day by Dennis Lehane.

Beach Music by Pat Conroy is another good one. I read it years ago on the beach in SoWal & would like to read it again.

I read a lot - probably way too much. I should spend some of my reading time cleaning my house or exercising but I figure I could have a worse addiction! I used to keep track of what I've read on my home computer but I lost that list when the computer got toasted. I am now using this site:

I thought some of you might find it useful. You can track what you've read & if you have a friend with similar reading interests, you can also see what your friend is reading and their review of the book.

This is great, I always reread, not necessary a bad thing, so many books because I did not keep a list. I relate to reading at the expense of my household chores, but hey it so much more fun. :D

Just finished Olive Kitteridge by Eliz Strout and Made in the USA by Billie Letts. Not too bad ... I may have to re-read Olive K. Anything by Dorothea Benton Frank is good for mindless escape.
