we tried the spray on products this year for mr audie and he had excellent luck with them. no burns and much more even coverage than with a lotion - he didn't have patches.

I'm afraid to even read this article. I just sent that with my son for a week of band camp in Indiana - mainly for its convenience. I knew he wouldn't even use anything unless it was easy.

great information ol, thanks! I never liked the spray stuff, it just doesn't seem substantial enough to trust on a kid's delicate skin.

I like a good lotion - coppertone for the kid. I use a daily face sunscreen and just started using a daily body sunscreen/moisturizing lotion whether I'm going in the sun or not. if I'm going out in the sun though, I use a hat and umbrella as well.

I know tanned fat looks better, but I'm not interested. and I don't want a fake tan either!

And you'll be the one with no wrinkles when you're 80!

I wish. I once worshipped the sun, in the younger days. we did not even know about sunscreen. can you imagine? at least our kids use sunscreen now, even if they do get too much sun now and then. they aren't getting totally burned up like we did when we were little. they are being taught to protect their skin, and they still get nice little tans. even so, some kids probably spend too much time in the sun during the peak hours - this is really not necessary. we may need to go the extra step these days and teach our kids to use sunscreen year round. its not just a summer time thing as we're learning.

Oh yes, I totally remember the days of baby oil and iodine. We even used Crisco at one point:eek:

I notice that one of the better rated sunscreens in this test, and perhaps others, has some contradictory language on the label. The label states that it will not wash off with water, yet their solution to getting it out of the eyes is washing with water. :dunno: Will someone please explain that one to me?

Perhaps has something to do with your skin having oils and none in the eyeball. :dunno:

I was not careful in the sun when I was a kid. It's never too late, but sun protection starts at infancy. Nowadays, hopefully the parents have sufficient knowledge and know what to do. I also learned a lot at this site http://www.sun-protection-and-you.com/organic-sunscreen.html

It's mind boggling to me whenever I see Sunbathers laying under the hot sun. Nowadays there are many ways to stay protected. However, Organic Sunscreen not only protects you but also the environment. The Gulf oil disaster as bad as it was, was a one time event and hopefully everyone will recover fully.

But swimmers dipping in the water constantly using the chemically produced sunscreen, are not helping the ocean waters either.
