I have a real Super Bowl question.

Why is it on SUnday night- when everyone has to get up for work and school on Monday? It is such a party night tradition that it is strange it is on a non-party night! I have asked several people this question, and nobody knows. But you guys are the smartest people I know, sooo....:dunno: ;-)

Did I see a former UGA player, Hinds Ward, win the MVP? I thought so. :D

By the way, I thought the Rolling Stones performance was an audio nightmare. I wonder if someone got fired, or if the band was that bad. The Beetles just got bumped up another notch on that other thread lost in cyberspace. I really like the Stones, but that was aweful. Mick looked a bit ticked off to me. I think he knew it.

The game was great (Steeler fan here and thanks to the officials!!! :clap_1: ) but the commercials and musak were not up to par IMO. We did like the Bud commercial with the bear in the 1st quarter and the careers.com spots with the monkeys (and the "jackasses"). Maybe we are just expecting too much since all of the hype :dunno:

Yes of course you know that that was Hines "the Bulldawg" getting the MVP!!! And yes again the Stones sound guy needs to be fired since it was awful but with it "live" and not lipsynched it may have just been hard to broadcast. Also, at the end of the 3 song set, they wandered around the stage alot before they took their bow?! Not suprising since they may have been impaired :dunno: or had a senior moment  I'm not a Stones fan anyway (Beatles all the way) but it was pretty bad IMO.

I thought the Star Spangled Banner act was bad all around. I like Neville and Aretha but only when they stick to their style of music, respectively.

The (my) answer is: :dunno: The Super Bowl is played on Sunday because; #1 it is a tradition to play it on Sundays and #2 because the NFL dictates it (and they are all powerful in worldwide sports) and #3 it is a day/night that most people are off work, will sit thru commercials, and will party even if the game is boring, the halftime show is halfarse, and the commercials don't live up to recent standards :D

Well, not being a Stones fan, they sounded as good as they've ever been to me. I actually liked them better last night than ever! LOL! Seriously. But I do think they need to just stop now. (I know I'm in the minority on this board tho.) I was so afraid Mick was gonna twist an ankle and fall down.

 My kids (13, 9, and 5) all thought the Stones were not good. Again, it may have been the sound people messing up the vocals or the fact that it was live but we did not think any of the music acts were very good. Even my 5 yr old said "...dad, that guy singing (Jagger) is pretty old  ...even older than grandpa...I think..". Too funny.

I was surprised at quite a few calls the officials made.

I alway hate it when someone makes the national anthem their own. Carrie Underwood sang it wonderfully for one of the playoff games.

Great game! Stressful but funn! Steelers didn't play their best but were still able to pull out the win!! Victory parade is scheduled for tomorrow - route goes right past my office. Hopefully I can get away for a few minutes to celebrate & won't have to watch from my 14th floor window.

The Cap'n and Gypsea were there at the game and it was soooo coooool !!!!

Everything about it was great. The music was much better in person than I heard it was on TV. The speakers about 12 feet tall and 8 ft wide, and were placed every 20 yds apart completely around the field (wireless).

The stands were dominated by Steeler faithful. We had one loudmouth Seahawk fan sitting behind us telling us how great it was going to be to beat Pittsburgh, but he left after the Steelers scored their first touchdown and never came back. (I think it could have been because Gypsea was slapping him around with her terrible towel!)

The confetti was great at the end. Red, white, and blue raining down everywhere.

The game was sloppy on both sides, and the Steelers finally got a few descent calls from the officials, after a few games where they got the raw end. ( The pushing penalty was the only one that really might have been a bad call - One more touchdown wouldn't have made a difference in the outcome).

All in all, one of the best days in my entire life.

They should've let Dr. John sing instead, imo. (Wasn't that him on the piano?)
They sorta had a Motown/NOLA tribute, I guess.
