I have never had a fever with this. Just sore throat, laryngitis for 7 days, fatigue, headache. No fever, no flu....right?

We were in SoWal 2 and a half weeks ago. Arrived on a Sat, husband got a cold, sore throat,
fatigue and then chest stuff.....lasted a full 2 weeks. Went to the doc in Seagrove who said it was
going around and warned that it might last that long. He is HIGH energy and this really laid him
done flat. Is fine as of yesterday. No fever but he might as well have for as bad as he felt.
I bet you have something similar....

Yes, two confirmed cases in a kindergarten here in Madison, Alabama. All Madison, Madison County and Huntsville City schools closed until Monday. Brewer High School where my son goes so far is not closed. However the schools Marching Band just got back from a week in Mexico. No one sick yet, we are crossing our fingers!

No schools closed here but a few probable cases in the city.

Sorta makes you hate to go to bed and wake up to hear more of the worst.

For the 2nd time today, I've witnessed my son literally wash his hands w/ soap and water. That in itself is shocking. Never would listen to his mother but it takes a pandemic to make an impact.

One thing that we all have to remember is that this strain of flu is not any more deadly that the regular strain of influenza that usually strikes during the later fall season. Yes, it makes you feel like crap just like any influenza, and it generally sucks. But, it is treatable. Most people that die from it are older/younger people who's immune systems are not as strong as the rest of the populations. This according to the CDC. I personally do not think that it is cause for panic. Our schools were closed earlier in the fall for 2 days because of the regular flu as well. I call it regular for lack of a better term. Anyway, as always better hygiene on all of our parts will help with the spread.

I am not panicking I have long weekend in Gulf Shores planned this weekend, and I am sorry but no swine is going to keep me away!

WHOA! Maybe I should turn on the TV!? Is this all super media panic driven? Has anyone died in the USA? Sounds like Texas is all but shut down!

Rita...Mr. Perry must make sure all his hair product can be made in Texas before we secede. :D

A 23 month old baby in Texas. :sosad: The reporting is sketchy, but it may have been they were visiting from Mexico or possibly too late in getting treatment for the baby.

Yesterday, in the airport, there were people with masks. One was a latin Family in line ahead of us. We decided to wait out till they got through security, then we sprayed ourselves with hand sanitizer I picked up at CVS along the way.

BTW, hand sanitizer is sold out everywhere here in New York.

Yikes, I think it's prudent to watch the news on this one. Take care of yourselves and your families! I don't suffer allergies, but something has had me down this week since Sunday. Last time I went to the beach, I came home with the two week thing. And, I got something prior to that bout that lasted about a week.

I am sick and tired of being sick and tired!

Y'all, please be cautious!

Cheers and have a fabulous day!! If you aren't feeling well, I hope you do soon!

I am thinking like you on this and thank you for the CDC report. Schools have been closed in the past because of widespread infection of flu and other viruses. That is why I feel it is partly media driven. I am surprised there has been no attempt at linking this to a terrorist threat.

Get on down to the beach and enjoy the heck out of y'all's weekend!

How sad. It is the eldery, infirmed and children that are usually at risk from any flu. I plan on calling sarafunn, in Austin, today to see what they are doing in her elementary school as precautions.

Glad/sad to hear y'all made it back safely to NY.

jsut read this and will share for abit of comic relief....

FLU-EEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Don't you love humanity?

Each year there are an estimated 60,000 or so deaths related to 'run of the mill' influenza in the US. Yet, I can't tell you how many people balk at getting the vaccination citing everything from fear of getting the flu from it (which you can't) to concerns over mercury toxicity :)roll:).

Yet now we have the media, in typical full blown hysteria mode, covering the swine flu like it is the public health menace of the century. One child has died, there are relatively few confirmed cases, but our phones are ringing off the hook with people wanting Tamilfu.

Good grief.
