Thank-you poppy, I will build my little loft at the beach. It's just for me, I am single and not bringing anyone with me from Atlanta.

Only you can know what makes you happy. Good luck and please post pictures when completed so we can all enjoy your vision.

We are building a similar beach house in Norton Commons. Narrow lot. No yard. This particular house is in VA. Ours is just being framed. Just need the beach. But we do have a pétanque park, market, amphitheater, walk ability, bike friendly roads, (golf carts), concerts, movie nights. No palm trees. Several restaurants and shops.
Alleys for garages/car ports. Parking on streets. Lots of front porches close to sidewalk.
Yes, all borrowed from Seaside:)

Beautiful!!

The cottage that I am building will be smaller because of set back restrictions. The lot is quite narrow. But it will be 3 blocks from the Gulf:love:

Will post pictures as I get into it

know you are excited..been waiting awhile..good luck during the "fun part ??" of construction...

We personally fought the developer who planned a development (adjacent to our property) with small lots and huge vertical-horizontal ratios. Hubby took the architectural plans, entered them into SketchUp, superimposed it onto Google Earth, and it was easy to see in 3D how that was not compatible with the neighborhood. In the animation one could walk through the neighborhood from any angle to see the incompatibility. The BCC agreed with us.

It's really sad that people are so greedy that they want to go vertical to get as many square feet as they can on a small lot. Any builder who would do this is not a friend of the 30A area.

That would just not be allowed in Hilton Head, along with all of the signs and no big signs. I remember when we bought property in the 30A area and liked that big signs had graffiti on them that said "NO BIG SIGNS."

What is happening to our paradise? Is the compatibility rule gone? Can't we get some sign ordinances other than those that allow even more signs?
