Exactly. And if you have ever lived with a teen-- well, rather--- if you haven't--- you probably think you would know every step they take---

but you would be wrong.

All the kids are locals. I really hated to hear of this. ShallowsSquirt has grown up with the young lady who was the instigator.

While somebody's parents should have known something, don't blame the girl's mom. It's hard to raise a daughter from the Point Washington Cemetery. :sosad:

I am sure that I just figured out who the girl is. Sometimes good kids do bad things. Sometimes parents (or grandparents in this situation) get mislead. I know this grandmother and trust me, she is doing ALL that she can with her grandchild. She is one of the nicest, most genuine people on the planet. She has a daughter and a grandson in the Pt. Washington Cemetery. I challenge any of you to step up and try filling her shoes for one minute before you spout off about what you would do if it were your kid.

I try to tell all of my kiddies when they muff up royally that what you do (especially when you are young and trying out your wings) does not have to define who you are. Learn from the mistakes and move on and up up up baby.

BTW... SN did you look closely at my avatar?

Honestly this isn't the worst thing I've ever heard.

At my old job there was an incident with a rental house. A guy rented the house as a congratulations to the team of soccer players he brought down to Destin. What he failed to mention when he checked in was that he was not staying at the house, but rather he was dropping off fifteen 15-16 year-olds and staying in a hotel. When he checked out he didn't even come in the office, just dropped the keys in the box. No one though anything until the housekeepers called and sounded as if they had found a dead body. They hadn't that's a different story.

What they discovered was unreal. This was a relatively new 3 story 5 bedroom 5 1/2 bath home. All of SHELLY's favorite extra's, stainless steal, granite counter tops, etc. Every piece of glass on pictures, coffee tables, and end tables had been smashed. Toothpaste had been smeared on almost every surface in the house. The kitchen had been destroyed, doors ripped off of cabinets, broken plates, broken glasses, most of the pots and pans were just missing, and fixtures ripped out of the ceiling. Most of the living room furniture had been moved out onto the back lawn and was wet from rain and burned with cigar/cigarette burns. Not one, but two dining room chairs were still stuck in the wall of the dining room. Oddly the bedrooms and bathrooms were pretty much untouched or just had normal use. The absolute most disgusting thing though was the stair case. Now I warn you to just stop reading if you can't take gross things.

Apparently on the final night the boys had gotten together and decided to see if they could urinate and get it to run down all three flights of stairs.

Pictures were taken, cleaning began, and the Sheriff's department was called. I believe when all was said and done with the grand total was somewhere around $38,000 in damage. The coach was arrested, fired, and still paying off the judgement.

The point is to not jump to conclusions that parents are neglectful, sometimes they simply trust the wrong people.

Oh crap...... my heart goes out to all involved.... including the "stepfather". I just figured out that I also know the "young lady who was the instigator" and the person whos house it was. I am certain that he would never do anything to bring this heartache on anyone but certainly did the right thing in having the authorities check on his house.

Be thankful that nobody in Sowal has been a victim of a Craig's List party. If you don't know what I'm talking about, somebody who knows of a vacant house will put out word via Craig's List that there is a party at a certain house. The word spreads like a virus, and loads of people (kids) will decend on the house to party. Sufice it to say being respectful of the house is not the number one priority...

Didn't any of you all do anything like this when you were growing up? Just curious. I know we sure did. I had great parents but they had no clue what we were up to half the time. Thank god none of us had cell phones! I think most parents would be real surprised if they knew half of what their kids were really up to.

No, I never broke into someone's house. Plenty of beach around if you absolutely must have an underage drinking party.
