No hypocrisy. The big difference is that it is indisputable that burning a Koran is an inflammatory, offensive (to some), classless act. There is little room for opinion on that one. Building of the mosque could be considered by many to be a non-event. There is certainly room for disagreement.

I have to ask, at this stage of the game, are you really willing to believe the pastor's story that the Imam has agreed not to build the cultural center. Don't you think a little fact checking is in order before you reap such high praise on this psycho-Xian dirtbag. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing good to say about Muslim fundies either. In fact, it looks like the Imam just issued a veiled threat regarding what will happen if the mosque plans are abandoned. That's what makes me question your hero's story.

I saw that too, Sam

The more I read about the real estate deal that lead to this, the more I think we've all been had (including the imam, who was sought out by the investor) by a very shrewd and unscrupulous Egyptian real estate flipper looking to make a quick 400%.

Maybe that book-burning Florida preacher is also hoping someone will offer to buy him out. Money and power is often behind many things. Your suggestion of it being a power play may be on target. Trump always likes press, and not surprising, he has thrown his offer in to purchase the land in NYC for 25% more than the current value.

isn't that the truth? he throws money at a problem and then what? has he accomplished anything worthwhile other than for himself? I seriously doubt it. we will still be left with extreme and intolerant views/beliefs coming out of groups of people feeding off of anger and fear and misery - which will just shift to another location or another target. same problem, different place.

I am not a big fan of Donald Trump but he has accomplished a lot. He has taken many, many risks. In those risks you have to consider how many jobs he has created. We have to remember that wealthy people are not all bad. Imagine if there were no risk takers out there?

Sounds like a Jim Jones in training. Anyone who would agree to this is an even bigger wacko.
