Right here!
Lots of action, and guess what, even a sex scene involing Kirk and Uhura. I'm conflicted. A modernized, non-disney version of Star Trek seems pretty cool, but I'm not sure, has Hollywood gone too far?

"The eagerly anticipated Star Trek film is set to cast off the geeky associations of the sci-fi genre with a handsome cast, vicious fights and sex scenes.

A trailer for the new movie was released online on Monday, no doubt fuelling the excitement of Trekkies around the world ahead of the film's release next year."

I'm a Trekkie and a purist. I have every season of all the Star Treks. There's a little risque every now and then. You're right. they may be pushing the card. Can't tell until we see the movie. Maybe that's all we see. :dunno:

Love the comment that us Trekkies should be beamed up. My whole family is excited. We are die hard Trekkies. Even our Xmas trees have some Star Trek ornaments. :D

How is this the risque version? The original TV show was a bad actor zooming thru space and sleeping with green women.

Seriously I'll probably go watch it, I'm a closet trekkie, but I prefer the Next Gen.

The truth is the movie is for kids of all ages. And we know how sex and violence sells to kids of all ages. It will be a huge hit.

BTW - The term for real fans is "trekker". If you go to a Star Trek convention and call yourself a "trekkie" you will be banished to the 4th planet of Regulor 9.:lol:

We saw the trailer this weekend when we went to see the new James Bond movie. I was like...wth? Sorry, I will always like it better with the cheezy acting and terrible special effects.

(lol at SWGB, I did not know he was closeted about anything. :D)

and you know this how?
My BIL went to a convention once, and there were fans dressed as Klingons all over the place, actually speaking Klingon. :blink:That was his first and last time.

I always thought Majel Barrett--Roddenberry's widow-- had to give clearance on all Star Treks. I thought she sought to keep the original feel of Star Treks. Guess she is changing with the times. I'll wait and see the movie before passing judgement, yet.
