What solution - like corn that drives up the price of food and results in more fertilizer being dumped into the Mississippi River and increasing the size of the dead zone in the Gulf, or maybe wind with transmission lines run through wetlands, forest and poor rural neighborhoods with condemnation proceedings and the like. Love to have this talk about the envronmental impact then to remind you of your solutions. I wouldn't equate a couple of Frenchies getting what amounts to an x-ray with a "nuclear melt down". The fact is nuclear is clean burning, and because it's man-made, we can make as much of it as we need. I don't expect you to understand it - only hope that Obama does if he gets elected.

My top four are hydrogen, solar, wind, and hydroelectric.

Hydrogen for vehicles as the only waste product is water. Solar panels can be placed on almost anything and produce no waste what so ever. However solar is usually not a favorite of the power companies as they can't capitalize on the production of power. Wind doesn't have to be in large wind farms in Europe they are installing and using smaller home versions on the roofs of home and even commercial properties. Hydroelectric doesn't have to be a dam, it can be wave energy which is also an emerging technology.

Now the argument that solar panels and wind will somehow cause blackouts just assumes that your going directly to the source and aren't using a battery back up of some kind.

Oh and as to the man-made comment, what are you going to do when you start running low on nuclear material? Last I checked there's no shortage of wind or solar power. Oh wait I apologize I think the sun is projected to burn out in about a billion years. Although when it goes super nova and destroys the Earth an alternative energy source becomes a moot point anyway.

Oh and another thing since I'm on a rant.

My understanding is that the sugar ethanol is made from the used crushed sugar cane and so it would only serve to decrease the cost of sugar since the processors could now sell what used to be waste. Not a big market for used nuclear material.

Sorry, i should have been clearer. There are virtually limitless supplies of uranium in seawater and the Earth's crust. It's only a question of the economic realities of obtaining it. But no need to worry about it for probably many lifetimes. We've done very little exploration for uranium - just our weapons grade stuff from disarmed missles is enough to fuel our current nuclear plants for decades.

My perfect beach
full time, I respectfully ask that you address the nuclear waste problem, which you have consistently ignored thus far. This is not something that can be conveniently overlooked.

Why can't they just install a sonic device on the turbines or around the perimeter of the area to repel the bats? :dunno:

Back to T. Boone's plan. He was an exceptionally successful oil-man and obviously, a capitalist. Which is a great thing. Lord knows we desperately need a comprehensive energy plan. Good luck with any progress on that in an election year from the yada yada yada morons we continually send to Washington. You don't need to dig real hard to learn that T. Boone's plan is not quite all it is cracked up to be. And a key national politician is already financially invested in his plan which has created huge conflicts of interest that effect us all. Nancy Pelosi-wonder why she was so steadfastly against a vote to open areas for new drilling? Now that this has generated a small buzz (no thanks to any of the large media outlets), Pelosi may begin to bend a little on her no new drilling stance. When billions of $ are at stake, things are rarely what they seem. Interesting read
