thoughts and prayers for mom...

Thank you, each and everyone of you for the postings, pm's and phone calls! I'm back home from work. Only there 15 minutes and my boss told me if I didn't go home and pack and fly out to see my mama, he'd fire me!
Then he slapped me on the back of the head and said get out!
Guess I needed that eh?

So I'm back home, packing and waiting to find out how I'm getting out there tomorrow. My brother is taking care of arrangements since I thought I was going to be at work all day-

Mapquest says that I can drive 2810.42 miles in 42.43 hours.......Not.

I've taken a Tylenol PM, and its not even noon. I'm going to lay down.

Kenny--I am so sorry I just now saw this. My thoughts and prayers are with you, your mom and family.

My mom had a heart attack tonight. This might be it. My sister said that Mom collapsed at the assisted care living facility in Eugene Oregon, and basically 'died' but they were able to revive her. She's now in intensive care. The next 12-24 hours are going to be touch and go.
I've been on the phone for the last 4 hours with friends and family trying to prepare.

Came on line to start looking for plane tickets if it's not too late. Trying to maintain, but I'm losing it, so I'm going to try to pass out on the couch...

I was supposed to go out there this October or November to see her. My brother and sister live out there blocks away from her apartment, she's not alone.

She's 83. About 15 years ago she had a massive heart attack, a quadruple bypass, and a dozen strokes over a few days. She never did gain back her peripheral (sp) vision, but got her hand eye coordination back playing BINGO and SLOTS! Go Momma!!
She actually got stronger after my dad died a few years ago, and I thought she was doing just fine. Memory still off from the strokes, gets confused, but she's entitled.

These next couple of days are going to be rough but we'll manage. Gotta keep my chins up! Both of 'em.

But if anyone has any prayers or positive thoughts laying around they can spare, mom can use 'em right now. I just want to be able to hug her one more time, but, I need to accept the fact that this last time I saw her last October may have been the last time.

OK, I can't see to type anymore. I love this Sowal family of mine, most of you I've actually known in person for many many years. You've taken me in as I've been so far away from my own. Thank you, and goodnight.

Heck, I'm crying in that picture and I'm crying now. Geesh, I'm a mess.
In those baby pictures in the frame on the wall above our heads, that's me in the middle. The baby of the family and always the center of attention. Go figure. And I get my wicked, dry sense of humor from Mom too. And she's the world's best Scrabble player too. I love ya, mom.

Just talked to DKA...good news.....mom woke up in intensive care.....pulled off her mask, wanted to know where she was, sat up and said "give this bed to someone who needs it!" love her! Keep praying!

So about a half hour ago Mom wakes up in the Itensive Care Unit after a good night's rest (she's the only one that slept last night!) saying "what in the hell am I doing in here? Get me outta here and let someone that needs it use this bed!!!":roll:

After flat-lining twice yester day the doctors have inserted a stint; she had 96% blockage. She should be out of intensive care tomorrow, into a regular room for a couple of days then back to the assisted care living facility. (She loves it there, but says everyone there is "so old"!:funn: .

BB just woke me up. I wanted to post this and let everyone know everything looks like its going to be OK, but I still want to get out there as soon as possible. I had already planned on going to Oregon mid to late October, I'm just going to push it up a few weeks.

Now I'm back to my Tylenol PM induced coma. Thanks guys for all the positive energy and prayers - we must've done something right!;-)

Now lets focus on D&K, as DKA and ma should be just fine!

PS. I've already cancelled my Van Halen/Savannah trip this morning. Anyone in driving distance of Greensboro North Carolina want to buy a single ticket for Van Halen? $40 -does not binoculars or kleenex for nosebleed Seat 222 W-5. Straight across from stage, up above the clouds....might need telescope....
