Right here!
Granted in our culture throwing shoes is not really expression but in Iraqi culture it is a recognized insult...something like flipping the bird and considering the kind of stress that the Iraqi people are under, I liken it to the Guy who said "F@#& you Mr Cheney" after Huricane Katrina.

Do we lack any empathy at all ? Regardless of what you think about whether the war was a good idea, you have to recognize it is stressfull to live in a war torn country and maybe in that state of mind you might make poor choices and direct your frustration in a non productive way.

(Despite the irony of thinking we should get more involved in Iraq....)

I'd just make the point that this guys actions may or may not be covered under their Constitution. They have a legal system similar to our own, including a Supreme Court. The guy will be charged, go to trial, have legal council, and will have the right of appeal. We should resist getting involved at all, and let them work this through their system. Key cases like this should help define Iraqi constitutional rights.. something we've been actively doing now for over 200 years. Remember, they are a democracy now. Why would we get involved? Lets put a little faith in a legal system we modeled after our own, let's see what happens.

yes I think you are right. Thank you. You really did make me feel better about the whole situation. I will wait and see what happens but I still really feel for the guy.I'm sure the Iraqi people will be more than happy to have us stay out of it!

I agree he should be tried for simple assault. I heard about a month ago a radio commentator who was asking Bush to ask the Iraqis to give the guy clemency, or at least, leniency. It would have been a nice gesture by W, but that was never his strong suit.

You seem like the kind of guy that needs a shoe thrown at him. Why don't you give up the hate...
