Sad to say but in Chicago, R Kelley has been topping the news instead of Tim Russert's sudden death.

I can't believe how much attention the media is dedicating to this. It's as if a former president died or something. Yes, someone died today, he had a job in media, and family. That's sad. But is this really such big news that it warrents upstaging what went on in the race today? Or how many people died today in Africa, or Iraq? The air of self importance in all this just makes ill.
edit: and as you all may have guessed, I'm not a huge fan of the main street media.

Tim Russert.I guess you never watched Meet the Press, or watched this man interview a political candidate or office holder. It is huge news in the context of this election, especially since he is one of the few in the main stream media that is worth watching.
I imagine it is pretty hard to be self-important when you are dead, but apparently that is how you view admiration and sorrow for an excellent human.

Yes, I think all the attention is deserved. It was so sudden, he was so real, and so young. All those other things that are happening in the world aren't news. They're just mistakes we'll keep repeating and never learn from.
who wears fur to a football game????Meet The Press. Loved it -- always. Daddy and I were best buds and watched it every Sunday. But we never missed church because he was head of the deacons (I actually thought that he owned the church). We only missed Meet The Press to use our season tickets to the Atlanta Falcons games.
We had great seats that were just above an entrance. Little sister spilled a Coke on a woman's expensive fur. OOPS!![]()
It does seem that way, but it is really impressive that he was hired at NBC in 1984 and had the Meet the Press job nailed down by 1991. He had been in broadcast journalism less than 25 years! So true. It has really been a shock. It seems like he has been on TV for a hundred years or so. He had so much going for him. It just goes to teach us to live life to its fullest.
