We still have lots of openings for summer but based on history, and the strong number of inquiries we are getting now, we wouldn't accept a midweek to midweek rental at this point. So it will probably take some legwork if arkiegirl is looking for a summer week. If you want to try VRBO, arkiegirl, look for houses brand new to the rental market.
I wouldn't take mid week to mid week either right now TFT
. The inquiries have really picked up even more so since the words "economic stimulus checks" were uttered. Also, people do wait till the last minute sometimes, so by booking a midweek rental you in essence give up a week's rental that could have been booked, and usually does.
All of this is true, my office will not take a mid week (non Sat. to Sat. rental) less than 2 weeks out. This generally will ruin 2 solid weeks of rentals. However, that being said some people will take them early, but your best bet is last minute and not too picky. ;-)
Arkiegirl, everyone has given you great advice. Most with prime locations and established rentals will not rent mid week to mid week.
However, as stated, if you can wait till closer to time or look for new listings, or go thru the listings and look for those that have a daily rate listed for summer, you can find some. They are out there. Just have to look hard. Many times though in order to get the weekly rental discount, you will have to go Sat. to Sat. But if you are willing to pay the daily rate, you might get lucky.
Check Beach Rentals of South Walton I know they have some daily rentals during the summer, with a 3 night minimum.

I just booked a mid week to mid week rental today during SPring Break. I dont mind helping people out at all if I can swing it.
One good turn deserves another.....that person may become a faithful renter if I help them out when nobody else would... PM me if you still need something....
