I think Punzy and I should make a field trip to Bass Pro Shop, find some girl cammo clothes, get us some sort of deer rifle, buy a big a$$ pickup truck, and head out into the woods.

When we get there, we can set up our wine and tapas bar in the cool deer stand we're going to build. While we are sipping our wine, eating our yummy tapas, and flipping through the latest issue of Vanity Fair, the deer will stop by to see what's going on, since they are probably used to beer drinking, farting men, and the sight of us will be surprising. Easy pickings.

Oops- one little problem- I don't think we could shoot anything! It would be a bad ending to a shopping trip and a great cocktail hour.

I want what you are having in your coffee gullfriend!!!:funn::funn::rotfl::love:

No kiddin, Franny!!:rotfl::rotfl:

I have dropped everything that I had planned for the rest of the week to go and harvest that little pooch some venison. I sent this thread to my employer, to let him know that I was going hunting, not for the enjoyment of it, but it is for a good cause. Ellie's trevails have inspired me to go to Bass Pro Shop and buy a new rifle, boots, camo and skinning knife. I forwarded this to my wife as well, so when the stocking is not quite as full as it has been in the years past she will understand. Tell Ellie to hang in there like a hair in a biscuit until I return with her Dr. Prescribed medicine.

Oh, Punzy! I am so sorry about Ellie. Glad she's okay. Did your vet ever mention the BARF (Bones and Raw Food) diet for your dog? That's supposed to be the healthiest. Warning: these BARF people are absolute fanatics about their dogs -- I mean there's nothing they wouldn't do to keep their dogs healthly, including Dr. Dodd's protocol for vaccinations (the vet checks the titers and if they're okay, they don't unnecessarily subject your pet to unnecessary vaccinations and meds).

Here's a link for the BARF diet -- I personally know this woman and she has occasionally babysat and groomed my Pepper -- her dogs have shown at the Westminster Kennel Club show on several occasions. Cathy shows you step-by-step how to prepare it. Most standard poodle show dog breeders wouldn't even sell me a dog unless I agreed to put my dog on this diet.

I just don't have time to cook BARF, but then my dog is healthy.

How timely this is! I just went to the vet with her yesterday and she weighs only 11 pounds. She should weigh 16-18. She is eating plenty of the EN prescription diet, but apparently it doesn't have enough calories. She's so pitiful this morning -- it's cold and she is walking around in her sweater and a blanket.

If your boss or wife isn't totally convinced of your altruistic, spirit of Christmas motivated reasons for going on a quest for venison...just show them this....

Oh my gosh, what a pitiful little picture...I hope Ellie's okay. This is the first time I've read the thread. I thought you had lots of help finding venison. Did you get some?

How old is Ellie? Yesterday I visited a nursing home with Dylan's class and it was rully rully warm in the room. I walked over to the thermostat and it read 80 degrees. Most of the people had on sweaters and blankets just like Ellie.:love:

Ellie was born in August 1993. She's 14. That's old, but not super old for a dachshund. I think the fact that she is just skin and bones is the main problem. I'd give anything to just get one or two more pounds on her. She begs and begs for food, but everything I give her other than the prescription diet causes intense pain and diarrhea.
