An ATL radio station today said that Bush and Cheney had decided to take care of the Social Security deficit one person at a time.

Ha ha- I hadn't heard any of the jokes yet. Although the lawyer's daughter did say that her dad looks like he has chicken pox!

I also hear that Cheney's staffer who was suppose to take care of buying all of the licenses required to shoot Quail, failed. He or she bought the license, but not the required Quail stamp. So technically speaking, Cheney broke the law.

I know some of you were wishing that GW had been the one joining the party unannounced, but you don't always get that for what you wish.

Feb. 13, 2006 - Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff announced today that his department would immediately implement a ?Cheney Alert? system to warn Americans if an attack by the vice president is imminent.

The Department of Homeland Security has been under pressure to respond to the widespread panic and anxiety that have gripped the nation since Cheney shot and wounded a fellow quail hunter while on a hunting trip in Texas over the weekend.

Across the country, people have holed up in their homes and hoarded food and water, fearing another senseless attack by the gun-toting vice president.

?What we have learned, the hard way, is that Dick Cheney can attack without warning,? Chertoff said. ?It is our hope that with this Cheney Alert system we will be able to give the American people some warning before he strikes again.?

The alert system, with five color-coded levels indicating the likelihood of another brutal pellet attack by the Vice President, was derided by some in Congress such as Sen. Joseph Biden (D-Del), who likened it to ?closing the barn door after the horses have escaped.?

?The fact is, the White House already had ample warning that Dick Cheney was going to strike, and they sat on their hands and did nothing,? Biden said, referring to a Presidential Daily Brief dated February 4 with the title, ?Dick Cheney Determined to Strike in U.S.?

Elsewhere, former Education Secretary William Bennett said that he was ?outraged? that an NHL gambling ring has been in operation for five years and he was never invited to participate in it.

I have a boatload of jokes I was gonna post, but I just heard on CNN that the lawyer had a mild heart attack from his heart being damaged from the gunshoot and causing an arrythmyia. He'll be in the hospital for at least another week.

So it would be inappropriate to make jokes. Hope he gets well soon.

Beach Runner, I agree with you that it's inappropriate to post jokes (at least until that poor man recovers) but I'm so confused about why you post jokes at your mother's expense on your signature line. You're respectful of someone you don't know but not some one you do? My mother would be so bent out of shape if I posted "I may be dumb but I'm not stupid" about her! It makes me sad to think that you might not like your mother very much. :sosad:

Mermaid, didn't your mother ever use that line when you were growing up when you did something stupid and tried to get away with it? My brothers and sister heard it all the time when we were growing up. She was trying to tell us that we were the stupid ones not her. I found myself using that line all the time when my kids were growing up.
