Beach Runner, I agree with you that it's inappropriate to post jokes (at least until that poor man recovers) but I'm so confused about why you post jokes at your mother's expense on your signature line. You're respectful of someone you don't know but not some one you do? My mother would be so bent out of shape if I posted "I may be dumb but I'm not stupid" about her! It makes me sad to think that you might not like your mother very much. :sosad:
Well, I can't speak for BR but unfortunately, some of us aren't too fond of our mothers. Wish it was different, but... sometimes it's just not a fairytale. (And I don't mean to sound flippant.) But it makes those of us better mothers because of it!

I don't think anyone wants to joke about anyone who is hurt in an accident. But, the incident itself is certainly fair game. Even though its not really funny at all - considering the VP involvement and the type of hunting as revealed (not really hunting at all - just killing).

I have to admit that I use this line with my 18 yo son. Of course, sometimes it is "I might be dumb, but I wasn't born yesterday." You know how smart an 18 year old thinks they are. :bang:

I'm so glad I was mistaken about the dumb/stupid tagline. No, I've never had that one used on me and I'm glad I never did, because it sounds so condescending to me (sorry!). My mother would fix us with a steeley glare and simply say "I wasn't born yesterday." Believe me, you knew what it meant. I might have privately thought she was dumb (many was the time), but my mother was old school and she'd never have said it herself.

I used the phrase, "We men may be dumb, but we ain't stupid," in a post just the other day, regarding the issue of Women Have Babies, Men Get Babies. ;-)
