You seem to have forgotten that he also lied to everyone about it for ten days and questioned the character of his accuser to cover his own rear end. I'd say that fits pretty well into "conduct unbecoming of a congressman".

But as I've stated before, I hope you all convince him to stay. :D This is a political gold mine for the other party.

I did not forget at all. He lied about a personal matter and he was not under oath. He should be expected to lie unders those circumstances. His lie is completely acceptable.

Right here!

You should go back and read some of your previous posts on the subject of sexual misconduct in the relationships of politicians. You seem to have a (D)ouble standa(R)d.

You'll have to prove that. I don't think I've ever said anyone should resign. Mark foley definitely because his acts are criminal. Larry Craig is certainly a public nuisance. I can't think of any others. I will admit to reveling in their personal train wreck, but that's about it. If a conservative family values hypocritical dirtbag wants to stay on and can get the support of his constituents, I have no problem with it. That's the issue here, whether or not somebody should resign.

So show me the posts you're talking about. And what's with the ()?

No choice? Really? This position is beyond stupid. Please just drop it. Weiner should not be representing Americans.

tell me why do Republicans feel David Vitter should still be serving?

Politicians receive many "perks". One being groupies maybe from a powerful speech. Men have a strong sex drive mainly from hormones (testesterone). We also have a brain. I am suprised in that there seems to be a debate regarding whether or not men can control these "hard wired" desires to have sex outside their marriages. I am also suprised that it is none of our business when it involves a public figure. There is and should be a higher standard of conduct for public figures. All marriages are important in our society. Everytime a marriage fails so does society in court costs, custody battles, scarred children, scarred emotions, scarred trust etc. Hopefully Mr. W will learn to control his desires, salvage his marriage and focus his politics on a productive society and not the destructive behavior of lying, cheating and manipulating.

Actually should be a debate about this. Science currently leaves very little room for the idea that the brain can control these hard wired impulses. In fact the hard wired impulses and the brain are virtually one and the same. The hormones directly affect the brain. Some people are just luckier than others in the ability to maintain control. I respect your views, but I happen to think Weiner should be put on trial by the voters in his district (if he still has one) come election time.

Yes we have a lot to learn about the brain, nervous system and hormonal influences and probably always some debate. My limited education divides the cns into the sympathetic (voluntary) and parasympathetic (involuntary). I had hoped to believe that one of the reasons that we are a more civilized society is that we have evolved (yes even males) to a development of the nervous system that allows for more voluntary control over impulse and hormonal influences. I am afraid of what society becomes if we all see it, want it and take it...

The battle between our primitive urges & our reason is played out in the brain by the prefrontal cortex vs. the central reptilian brain. Read "The Social Animal" by David Brooks. He argues that we need a balance between these areas of the brain, & if either were in complete control, we would be neither successful nor human.

This behavior is disgusting and so is lying about it. Weiner can control himself if he choses to - same as anyone else.

Who cares if he has a high level of testosterone - there are plenty of ways to deal with that and get lots of sex that voters wouldn't care about - but he chose to send nasty pictures just as he chose to get married and betray his pregnant wife.

Cheating, lying, and being an idiot are not predestined. You choose.

I never said it was predestined. I said a person's behavior and will is a product of his brain activity and environment, not the other way around. More and more, neuroscience supports this view, and your view is fast becoming an obsolete relic. Furthermore, if you spend any time reading message boards, you will see that many voters such as myself both male and female do not care about this. I for one do not think a picture of a penis is nasty. Neither does Barbara Walters apparently:
