Okay this is a test of our democracy right here in sowal.com. If we want a Better America it will start with having positive leadership and that positive uniting leadership will trickle down to each of us. It has been a long 4 years of democrats and republicans attacking each other so I get it but at some point we all have to see a bigger picture. As hard as it is to admit there are over 70 million Americans who believe the same thing that was in the snoopy quote. These people are not evil, not stupid and not your enemy. They simply see things differently. Yes maybe they ignore or dismiss the negative part of Trump that the other half of us do not. So first we have to get over ourselves a little. Admit that we are not always right. Stop reacting to a prickly comment meant to get under our skin. There are some people like minorities, marginalized groups and women who get a break on the civility to some extent but if you are male and white by definition we have had more privileges than most other groups so it has to start with us using our "clean around our own back door before attacking another". I say lets stop watching the 24 hour news channels and living life again which include spending more time with family, friends and community. Think of our white male privileged selves as a role model for civil behavior. I am not saying to let people walk over us but rather walk with us toward a Better America. If other people choose not to walk with us toward a Better America then that will be their stress and unhappiness. A lot of us are happy with the election and a lot of people are not happy so it will be a slow process of finding our better selves but I know we all have the potential. It will be a challenge no doubt but we need each other to defeat real enemies like this pandemic.
Can you write smaller paragraphs? Maybe I have a vision problem but Jesus tap dancing Christ. I need some kind of division between themes. Writing should not be a verbal assault. Break your s**t up.

Partisan politics will not go away unless we the people unite together and demand a more efficient and productive government. Again, we the people will have to be more united if we want a better political system. The bad players in our system need to be fired. That is Democracy! Extremism is not efficient or productive because of human nature. We can dream of our perfect world but live in the reality of an imperfect world where we have to make compromises with perfection. I think we can find common ground from which to make necessary compromises to move forward. As for as congress goes their job is to represent us both economically and socially. Equality is the goal in that representation. What we have at the moment is a congress who is fighting for control of power instead of fighting for us. Their words are unimportant and their actions will have consequences. We the people are the consequence so we can not afford to be this divided. Lets find common ground. It is usually in the middle. If the two political parties continue to be partisan then they are not representing us. If this behavior continues in our legislative branch then we will need to form a Centrist Party. This will not happen in my life time but I believe it is time to start having that conversation. A real 3rd political party will get the attention of democrats and republicans! The Lincoln Project might be going in that direction.
You’re still not facing reality. After four years of his failure in handling the COVID-19 pandemic, his overt bigotry, racism, misogyny, documented corruption, disrespectful treatment of the military, attacks on the free press, and malfeasance 68 million Americans still think he is what’s best for the country. They are unreachable so quit trying and expend your energy on what can be accomplished.

The moral decay republicans moan about is exactly what produced Trump and what has become them.

Talk about projection.

What Biden will do is put scientists back in charge of science, doctors in charge of healthcare, and an attorney loyal to America in charge of the DOJ. Only loyalty pledges to the country will be required and our President will not be compromised by a personal debt of up to a billion dollars. He also will not destroy the USPS, he will honor the roll of a free press, and he will not fall in love with ruthless dictators while alienating our allies. IMHO this will be enough of a victory for America after the last four years.

edit: He definitely will not being altering a weather map with a sharpie and lying about it on the National stage.

Biden will restore some sense of normalcy. I think you'd have to be an abused child from a dysfunctional family to think that Trump's behavior is OK and normal.

I was getting out of the military in 1972 when Nixon was was re-elected carrying 49 states after the watergate break in. The republicans were trying to subvert a national election and it was perfectly fine with many Americans. Of course the hearings came the next summer and they were forced to face the facts. Here we are fifty years later. republicans have not and will never change.

Okay I understand everything you are saying except the "unreachable" part. Biden is about to become our President because many of those 70 million are reachable. Maybe it will take awhile for all this to sink in but Trump is moving on and we are left with a divided country. It is time to focus on something besides Donald Trump. Sure he has die hard supporters but Trump will be but a bad memory in a few years and we still have things to do and we need unity to do it. Of course you do not have to listen to my message and you can fight with every one of them but I am for moving forward.

You must understand I am not in any way trying to change your views. I just wish you would, at the very least, consider the realty Lucy is going to snatch the football away every time you believe republicans are interested in unity or anything other than their own self interest.

So you are missing the connection that Trump supporters have with Trump. They are looking beyond his character not toward his character. The left is very scary to them. They fear change. They fear government intrusion. They fear losing their identity, their culture and their majority. You are giving Trump too much credit for connecting to them. This fell into Trumps lap and he is an opportunist. These people connected to Trump not the other way around. They don't really like Donald J. Trump or his actions. What they like is that he tells them that he is going to take care of their fears. Religion check. Social status check. Less government check. Cultural protection check. Trump may have those dysfunctions that you list and maybe we all have some amount of dysfunction but human behavior is predictable when there fear is involved. Not one of the hundreds of Trump supporters that I have spoken with condone Trumps dysfunctions but they are able to look beyond them because of their fears. If we do not find a way to be respectful we will never even get to a conversation about what to do about the fear. I don't really have specific answers to these problems as I am learning what to say and what not to say myself because I want to be social. I know people like yourself that have decided that it is not worth or impossible and if they have to give up their social behavior then so be it.
