Having worked maintenance in dorms I can tell you that the spoiled kids are easy to spot.

heck, could be a spoiled kid, or could be a kid who is ready to not give a damn for a while. I've seen both types. who cares as long as everyone is having fun, being somewhat responsible, staying healthy and making good grades in school. the above mess is as about as bad as it needs to get for young adults in college, imo.

However, there does come a time when keeping a decent home is part of an adult's responsibility..

I know a few moms & dads whose homes need to be condemned. Now that kind of situation bothers me a great deal, for the kids - if you are going to get married and have children then you need to know how to take care of a home and provide a clean/healthy home for your children - dumbarses! there are just no excuses.

Hey, wait a minute....there are NO BOOKS in that room! No beer cans either. Are you sure that is a dorm room?

Here are some cramped living quarters in Tokyo. The guy who lives in the apartment in the second photo has four cats.

That photo doesn't do justice to what I saw when I worked in housing. The worst ever was a kid who managed to get a single, I think he ran off the other roommates, and it was so bad he was evicted from the dorm. We hauled out over 20 bags of trash including beer cans, liquor bottles, pizza boxes, assorted food wrappers, and a dead parrot.

His parents moved him into an apartment off campus where the same thing happened. One of the RA's had to sit down with him to give him a final warning in the dorm and asked why he didn't take the trash to the chute down the hall. The kid honestly stated that he had never had to do it in the past. Turns out mommy and daddy weren't rich, mommy just waited on him hand and foot. He wore flip flops or sandals even in the winter, because, and I'm not joking, he had never learned to tie his shoes.
